Guidance Counsellor Intern

Position Overview
The Guidance Counsellor Executive plays a key role in supporting the School’s university guidance and admissions advisory programme, providing personalised guidance to students and families throughout the university application and admissions process.

The role involves advising students on university and programme selection, application strategies, admissions requirements, and application timelines across Singapore, Hong Kong SAR, the United Kingdom, Australia, and other global destinations.

The Guidance Counsellor Executive will work closely with students, parents, teachers, and universities to provide comprehensive and timely support throughout the university application journey. The role also contributes to the development of counselling resources, university partnerships, workshops, and other initiatives that enhance the School’s university guidance programme.


Key Responsibilities
Student Advisory & Application Support

  • Provide individualised university and higher education guidance to students based on their academic profile, interests, career aspirations, and university preferences.
  • Advise students on university and programme selection, admissions requirements, application strategies, and timelines across Singapore, Hong Kong SAR, the United Kingdom, Australia, and other international destinations.
  • Guide students through the preparation and submission of university applications, including personal statements, resumes/CVs, portfolios, and supporting documents.
  • Review and provide constructive feedback on application materials and personal statements.
  • Monitor and manage students’ university application progress, deadlines, offers, and admission requirements.
  • Research and provide up-to-date information on university programmes, admissions criteria, scholarships, admissions tests, academic competitions, and other relevant opportunities.

Support students in securing research, internship, and enrichment opportunities, while liaising with partner institutions and organisations to strengthen their university application profiles.

University & Event Support

  • Liaise with university representatives, admissions officers, and external education partners where appropriate.
  • Coordinate and support university visits, admissions talks, university fairs, and other higher education events.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with universities and higher education institutions.
  • Keep abreast of developments in university admissions, programme offerings, scholarships, and admissions requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Education, Psychology, Counselling, Social Sciences, Business, Communications, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in university counselling, higher education admissions, student advisory services, education consultancy, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of university admissions processes and higher education pathways in Singapore and/or other international destinations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, educators, and university representatives.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, particularly in managing multiple students, applications, and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of responsibilities, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills.

Working Hours & Benefits

  • Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (excluding public holidays)
  • Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience
