Funding Societies | Modalku is the largest SME digital financing platform in Southeast Asia. It is licensed in Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia, and backed by Sequoia India, Softbank Ventures Asia Corp, and Samsung Venture Investment Corporation amongst many others.
SMEs, the bulwark of the ASEAN economy, still encounter multiple barriers in accessing funds from traditional financial institutions today. Funding Societies was incorporated in Singapore in 2015 with the vision to close this billion-dollar funding gap. With the motto of “Stronger SMEs, Stronger Societies”, the financing platform provides business financing to the region’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). These financing opportunities are crowdfunded by individual investors at a minimum amount of S$20 as well as institutional investors.
Funding Societies is a 2-sided platform that services SMEs and Investors simultaneously. It believes in growing underserved SMEs in Southeast Asia while at the same time helping platform investors earn attractive returns and diversification in their portfolio.
In 6 years, it has helped finance over S$2 billion worth of business loans for our local businesses in Southeast Asia.

We are building exciting backend services and front-end tools which give our business teams the flexibility to launch new products at lightning speed. We are looking for you to join us to build the next generation lending platform for SMEs in Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia. We believe in great engineering practices, working together and learning from one another. We primarily speak in javascript and go, though we are open to applicants from different backgrounds who are willing to learn!
What you’ll do
Build modern applications that help investors and borrowers onboard and transact on our system
Build attractive landing pages and measure their success
Contribute to code and architecture reviews to keep our code quality high
Debug and resolve production issues; take part in blameless postmortems
Plan and execute smooth migrations to new technology as a way of managing technical debt
You will shine in this role if you are/have:
Pursuing a degree in Computer Science or related field
Proficiency in some of our tech stack: nodejs, golang, angular or typescript
Good understanding of data structures and algorithms
A creative, curious attitude and an knack for spotting and solving problems
Comfortable working in ambiguity
