About the work
The Front Row Podcast is a long-form interview show made in Singapore, for Asia and the world. I sit down with people working in geopolitics, technology and economics and ask the questions the news cycle skips. We're 97 episodes in, with guests like Professor Wang Gungwu, George Yeo, Tommy Koh and Ha-Joon Chang.
Every episode starts with research. Interview guides come from data, history and institutional detail. After the shoot, one conversation becomes a full YouTube and audio episode plus a run of short clips for Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok.
Client projects use the same method. I produce video podcasts and content series for organisations that need to explain something complicated without putting their audience to sleep. You'll keep both on schedule.
- Job Description
What you'll do
You'll run the production side of every episode and client project, from the first storyboard to the final delivery. By month 3, you should be able to take a client brief to a storyboard, a shoot plan and a delivery schedule with one round of notes from me.
Development and storyboarding
- Turn episode ideas and client briefs into storyboards, shot lists and clip plans
- Research guests and topics, and draft briefing notes for my interview guides
- Plan short-form clips before the shoot: which moments, which hooks, which formats
Project management
- Keep the production calendar for the podcast and every client project
- Track tasks, owners and deadlines, and flag what's slipping before it slips
- Run guest logistics: scheduling, pre-interview emails, studio bookings, release forms
Shoot days
- Write call sheets and run the day: crew, guests, set-up, timings
- Log timecodes of strong moments for the edit, and shoot behind-the-scenes photos
Post-production
- Brief editors with storyboards and timecoded notes, then track revision rounds to sign-off
- Make light edits and caption fixes when that's faster than writing a brief
- Check every deliverable against the brief before it reaches me or a client
Client projects and distribution
- Help build pitch decks, creative briefs and production timelines for new series
- Join client calls, take notes, and send the follow-up the same day
- Draft titles, show notes and captions, schedule posts, and report monthly on views and retention
Who I'm looking for
A polytechnic or university student in media, communications, film, business or journalism, or a recent graduate. School-approved internships are welcome.
Must-haves
- Proof you can organise a production: a school film, event, campaign or channel where you were the producer, project lead
- Storyboards, shot lists or production schedules you've made. Hand-drawn counts
- Comfort with a project tool (Notion, Asana, Trello, or a well-kept Google Sheet) and with Google Workspace
- Enough editing knowledge to brief an editor clearly: you know what B-roll, a J-cut and a rough cut are
- Clear written English. In one week you might email a minister's office and send a client their revision schedule
- Curiosity about geopolitics, economics, technology or history, enough to read the guest's book before they arrive
Nice-to-haves
- Editing in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or CapCut
- Camera and audio set-up experience
- Figma, Canva, Miro or Keynote for storyboards and pitch decks
- Mandarin, Malay or Tamil
- You already listen to long-form podcasts and have opinions on why some clips travel and others don't
What we offer
- SGD 850 a month, plus a performance bonus of up to SGD 1,500 when you complete the internship. We set the bonus goals together in your first week. Part-time pay is pro-rated
- Flexible Leave Arrangements and Paid MC
- Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 6pm, with mostly remote working days.
