Role Overview

The Accounting Intern will support Flint’s finance and accounting function, with a focus on day-to-day accounting operations, financial record-keeping, and reporting. This role provides hands-on exposure to accounting practices within a fast-growing deep-tech, climate-focused company and is designed for students pursuing an Accountancy degree. Scope and responsibilities will be aligned with the intern’s academic level and programme requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with bookkeeping and accounting entries using Xero
• Assist in maintaining accurate general ledger records
• Support monthly financial close activities and quarterly GST filing
• Prepare basic financial reports and schedules for internal review
• Assist with documentation for compliance or internal controls
• Support ad-hoc finance and accounting tasks as required

Learning Outcomes

• Apply accounting principles and standards in a real-world business setting
• Gain practical experience using Xero for day-to-day accounting operations
• Develop an understanding of financial controls and reporting in a startup environment
• Build attention to detail, accuracy, and professional accounting discipline

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy
• Prior experience or familiarity with Xero is required
• Strong attention to details and organizational skills
• Proficiency in Excel and accounting knowledge expected
• Interest in sustainability, technology, or startup environments
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
