Engineering Good (formerly known as Engineers Without Borders Asia) is a Singapore-based non-profit organisation that empowers disadvantaged communities by improving their quality of life through sustainable engineering solutions. Working in partnership with community-based organisations locally and in the region, we provide opportunities for engineers to contribute their expertise to address community needs through skilled volunteerism.
In Singapore, our focus is on assistive technology (AT) for persons with disabilities. We partner with volunteer welfare organisations such as special schools and disability centres, and work with our partners and end-beneficiaries to develop AT that is more affordable and better customised to their needs.
Overseas, we focus on appropriate technology for the base of the pyramid (BoP). Typically used in developing country contexts, appropriate technology refers to low-cost, small-scale systems to meet basic needs such as water, energy, farming, and shelter. We partner with local organisations already working in appropriate technology on the ground, and work with them to strengthen their capacity.
