Copan is a fast growing vintage furniture store specialising in original Scandinavian and Danish mid century modern pieces from the 1950s-1970s. We are currently looking to hire a vibrant, dynamic, mature and independent individual to support our ongoing expansion. The candidate will be required to work a minimum of 3 days a week, including Saturdays, Sundays and one weekday. He or she will also be required to work on some public holidays. Our operating hours are 'friendly' (11am to 6pm). We open only 5 days a week. We welcome applications from interns (university, polytechnic) looking to gain real work experience within a friendly work environment with flexible working hours. Those with a background in arts, design and architecture will be highly regarded.
Responsibilities
- Greet, welcome and offer assistance to walk-in customers during operating hours.
- Acquire product knowledge over time and provide consultative advice to customer queries.
- Execute point of sale processes including invoicing, payment collection and order fulfilment i.e. liasing with logistics partners for delivery and address after-sales queries from clients.
- Basic housekeeping duties including occasional cleaning of premises and dusting of showroom pieces.
- Assist in unpacking, price tagging and occasional rearranging and moving of furniture pieces.
- Assist in the photography of pieces and uploading of images to website.
- Regular uploading of newsfeeds or posts to company's social media platforms.
- Other administrative or ad-hoc duties as assigned by the founder.
Requirements
- Pleasant and friendly disposition. Tertiary students who are outgoing, mature and responsible are welcome to apply.
- Ability to read, process and absorb information and literature relating to specific furniture items. High level of proficiency in English is a must.
- Proficiency in online / web / social media platforms.
- Candidates with one or more of the following skills are likely to succeed in this role:
a) Prior retail experience and familiarity with operating POS payment terminals.
b) Background in design, architecture, arts or photography. Students majoring in any of these areas will be considered.
c) Demonstrated passion and knowledge in furniture design, danish design and / or mid century modern design.
