Choo Yilin is a Singaporean, award-winning fine jewellery label that has been selected to showcase its work at platforms like Paris Fashion Week and London Jewellery Week. It partners with heritage and social impact communities, creating luxurious pieces that tell important stories of their conservation efforts.
The label works with highly skilled artisans in South-East Asia that come from a rich history of wood and jade carving, gold-smithing and other fine jewellery techniques. It has been featured extensively in the press, including The New York Times and The Financial Times
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for 3D Design interns, either part-time or full-time, for our rapidly growing company. This is a paid internship with an expectation of approximately 20-40 hours each week.
We are looking for someone with a great sense of form and passion for design.
THE ROLE
This position involves a broad range of responsibilities that will support as well as drive Choo Yilin brand and its evolving product offering. You will work with our design team to execute on product development support, 3D prototyping
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design Development:
- participate in brainstorming and problem solving sessions
- Create product renderings and images via hand and digital sketching
3D Modelling:
- Evaluate and create 3D CAD drawings with in-house 3D machine
Design Documentation:
- Learn about basic jewellery manufacturing processes
- Prepare specification sheets and summary pages for completed and confirmed designs
- Prepare excel files for production handover
- Digital folder compiling
Technical Maintenance:
- Training for 3D printing and casting will be provided
- Assist in-house 3D designer with preparing, cleaning and curing of resin processes
REQUIREMENTS
- Current Diploma students in Industrial Design, Product Design or related discipline.
- Working knowledge of desktop 3D printers (Formlabs, 3D systems, etc)
- Experience in Rapid Prototyping/3D modelling
- Rhino or AutoCAD proficiency required, Adobe photoshop and illustrator skills a bonus
- Experience or demonstrated interest in rapid prototyping / model shop environment
- Attention to detail, excellent problem solving skills
- Clear & Concise verbal and visual communication skills
- Commitment to continuous learning and exploration
- Able to commit 3 months full time internship
- Or commit to at least twice a week (full day) work week
- Interest in Jewellery and Fashion industry a plus
