Carro Singapore – Software Engineer (Frontend)

Carro is an automotive marketplace that offers a full-stack service for all aspects of car ownership. By offering a trustworthy and transparent experience, Carro challenges the traditional way of buying and selling cars through a proprietary pricing algorithm.

Carro provides a range of services that offer a car owner everything they need. These include an in-house financing solution, after-sales services like Singapore’s first on-demand roadside recovery platform and a flexible car ownership experience with Singapore’s first car subscription service. In 2020, Carro redefined consumers’ car buying experience with Singapore’s first contactless service. 

Founded in 2015, Carro started its regional expansion into Thailand and Indonesia in 2017 and is already Southeast Asia’s largest automotive marketplace, facilitating over US$500 million worth of transactions in 2018.

As of August 2019, Carro has raised a total of US$105 million from SoftBank Ventures Asia, EDBI Pte Ltd, Insignia Ventures Partners and B Capital Group.

Job Summary:

We’re looking for a software engineer who loves to design, develop, and maintain web applications day in and day out. 

• Work closely with the various stakeholders (product, designers, DevOps, tester) to design, develop and deploy high-quality web applications

• Write clean, testable code with unit tests

• Work closely with the development team to identify and resolve performance and scalability issues

• Work closely with the UI/UX design team and enable the bridging of the gap between UI design and technical implementation

• Participate proactively in code reviews to maintain a high-quality testable code culture

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor in Computer Science / Software Engineering or at least 2 years of development experience in an agile team 

• Good working knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript especially React.js (with a preference of modern JS frameworks such as ReactJS, VueJS, NextJS..etc).

• Good working knowledge of backend web framework such as Laravel (preferred), Ruby..etc

• Good working knowledge of RDBMS like MySQL, PostgreSQL and etc

• Familiarity with web performance optimization techniques

• Experience working with a product-based organization, e-commerce, automotive is advantageous
