Job Description
  • Prepare and develop detailed supervision schedule and comprehensive checklist for the conduct of the inspection and supervision by himself, and the Specialist Mining Inspector (SMI)
  • Prepare and develop detailed Safety Inspection schedule and checklist for the excavation and construction activities associated with the micro-tunnelling and mining This shall include micro-tunnelling and mining works at critical interfaces with adjacent important structures such as Mass Rapid Transit Station and Tunnel, Road Flyover, Canal and etc.
  • Review and check the construction drawings, method statements and construction sequence for all aspects of the temporary and permanent works of the micro-tunnelling and mining works, and their interface with the cut-and-cover tunnels, modification proposals to the design and construction methods and to advise on necessary amendments
  • Review and check all contingency measures and their application and decision structure, including all rectification proposals
  • Follow up and supervise all modification, additional and rectification works closely
  • Supervise every stage of the micro-tunnelling operation, including ground improvement works, commission of equipment, monitor face pressure, inspect slurry KPI, installation of seals, alignment of drive, articulation, ground movement, treatment plant operation, to achieve the full completion of the work, in a safe manner
  • Supervise every stage of the mining construction, including all excavation, shotcreting, installation of support/stabilising elements, casting of concrete and all other works to achieve the full completion of the tunnel, in a safe manner
  • Conduct daily review meeting on site with the civil contractors, Qualified Person or his representatives, specialist contractors and Geotechnical Instrumentation and Monitoring contractor
  • Prepare and submit independent daily assessment report
  • Monitor and interpret the visual/physical conditions of the micro- tunnelling and mining works and assess the potential risks
  • Monitor and assess the instrumentation results, and implement/instruct the execution of the various courses of action when the readings and its trend is deviated from the predicted values
  • Report to the Engineer on the daily progress of excavation and the instrumentation monitoring records, deviation of the ground encountered from expected profile, and to alert the Engineer on change in physical/visual condition of tunnel

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Civil and Structural Engineering
  • At least fifteen (15) years of relevant experience on projects similar in nature to the works in the civil contract including micro tunnelling and mining works
