Due to the program structure, we are able to only accept undergraduates in SIM/SUSS/Kaplan or Fresh grads, because we may require the undergraduates to partake in some activities on a part time flexible basis ahead. This internship aims to build the comparative advantage of the partaking candidate.
1. Candidates will first be on rotating shift to work with a lawyer and a qualified tax consultant, who is also accounting trained. On an online platform, candidates will be exposed to topics of estate planning and distribution through tax and legal subject matters. Candidates will learn on sophisticated business trusts and commercial trusts set up by high net worth individuals/corporations.
2. Candidates will then be mentored by investment specialists to understand about market trends and economics theory. Investment specialists may also instill some common investment philosophies and portfolio construction to the interns. Candidates will understand how about alternative investments and funds management (by a fund manager). Candidates will also understand about the fund manager's specialty on an absolute return fund that aims to achieve low volatility and to be uncorrelated to tradition financial markets. During this period, candidates may be tasked to understand investment reports and do analysis. For those who are specially keen in a career as analyst in investment, opportunities may arise to be employed by the boutique investment firm
3. Candidates will be placed in an learning environment where a compliance officer will introduce common regulations in the banking/finance/investment industries. Topics such as common white collar crimes and identifications of common red tapes will be introduced at this juncture to the candidates. Candidates will understand the job functions of a compliance officer, which is an up and coming job role that can be explored by fresh graduates in business , economics, law or finance
4. Candidates will undergo training in business valuation and corporate channels, and also get exposed to corporate financial ratios such as the acid test ratio, to identify the financial well being of a corporation. Corporate taxation will be introduced at this point of time to allow the candidate to understand more about tax for various business entities in Singapore. Candidates will also be exposed to an investment lawyer training/introduction to IPO and M&A. No actual work will be carried out by the candidate in the areas of IPO and M&A. It is for exposure and training only, to boost the candidate's profile and resume. Testimonials may be given
5. Overseas Market & Culture. Candidates will understand the different business cultures of the Cambodia and Myanmar markets, and to understand about regional businesses. In view of the current situation, overseas exposure trips may be converted to zoom meetings with our counter parts in those countries to understand more about the business structures regionally
6. Candidates specializing in areas of Business Management/Economics/Finance/Mathematics/Law/Marketing may apply. Due to the program structure, candidates with a more flexible school curriculum will be preferred (Those in SUSS/SIM/ Fresh Grads). Undergrads in local universities who are able to have a flexible school curriculum may apply.
