Company Profile

Atomionics is a Singapore based VC-backed startup building quantum sensors for Navigation and Resource Exploration. We measure gravity, acceleration, and rotation 1000x better than the state of the art. Atomionics sensors can build a complete map of the underground, thus help pinpoint underground structures like tunnels and bunkers, and predict earthquakes, provide precise navigation, and build a universal positioning system that works everywhere – underground, underwater, and even in space. We have deep expertise in bringing complex technologies from a lab environment to the dynamic real world.

At Atomionics we like to cultivate a casual and friendly environment. We are a small focused group in a high-energy environment. The core of what we are building is called cold atom interferometry, where we cool down atoms to microkelvin temperatures by shooting lasers at them. Our team has over 30 years of combined relevant research experience. This allows us to measure the forces acting on them precisely. Due to the complexity of our work, our employees get to interact with other interdisciplinary domains such as Mechanical Engineering, Physics, and Software Engineering. Our company likes to treat our work as a “gym for our minds”.

In addition, we are backed by some fantastic investors from the private and public sectors, such as Wavemaker, SGInnovate, Capvista, 500startups, and other prominent angels.

What can we offer you

  • A chance to learn about the intricacies of deep tech research, product development, and strategy in a high-growth startup at the same time work with some of the best engineers and physicists. Learn the best practices in engineering and physics
  • Work on the cutting edge of quantum technology
  • Develop robust applications for translational research
  • A book/hobby project allowance to help you grow and collectively build the Atomionics library
  • Board games and curry night.
Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Build and Debug electronic systems (data-acquisition systems, electro-mechanical devices, optoelectronics etc.)
  • Work closely with physicists & engineers to build control systems and embedded software for the atom-interferometry system
  • Design, manufacture and evaluate electronic circuits

About you

  • An absolutely driven individual with creative problem solving skills, analytical mind, and persistence, ideally, demonstrated
  • Able to program and debug in C, C++ or Python, with some experience in programming embedded systems
  • Well-versed in basic electronics: knowledge of fundamental circuits and their operation
  • Experience with PCB design (and familiarity with at least one EDA software), assembly and testing of analog, digital and mixed signal circuits

Even better if you have

  • Worked in a technical student team, or an early stage company environment
  • Worked on personal hobby projects (and can brag about them!)
  • We don't care for degrees, but if you have studied Electrical/Computer/Mechatronics/Systems Engineering, or a related field, that’ll be delightful. Also open to candidates who have completed or are in the final year of their full-time Diploma course in Electrical/Electronics/Mechatronics Engineering
