Akin – Frontend Web Developer

An agency in its typical sense will have various teams – the planning, strategy and accounts team. As an agency, our developers will be expected to support these roles. As a web developer, you will be involved end-to-end from the planning process through project implementation and release.

 As a developer, you will need to be confident of your builds and how to approach development products. Business impact through integrated demand and lead generation is a big aspect of our work, so while you need to understand the mechanics and stay on top of it, you should also understand that a piece of strategic advice goes much further. In our agency, we believe in being agnostic of platforms or approaches e.g. you are comfortable in applying the principles of product management, innovation and digital transformation across different script, languages or technological platforms to achieve business goals. You’ll need to understand the client’s business and infrastructure, and at least be conversant in all aspects of a technology methodology which enables revenue generation or cost reduction. In our company, this will fall across our business pillars of insights, brand, marketing and technology. This will allow us to stay agile, sensible and rigorous in our recommendations.

In essence, you will be required to be experienced in all aspects of what commonly feeds towards strategy in a larger agency. You will need to be in charge of front-end development, working with project managers and account managers towards the success of the project. As you progress, you may be more knowledgeable or inclined towards one domain, but you should grasp the importance of others, and be able to understand and give advice on how it influences the outcomes you’re looking for. Within this, you’ll also be expected to understand how your work impacts the other departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (other duties may be assigned)

• Develop, test, deploy, and maintain high quality websites and applications according to specifications and requirements
• Collaborate with designers, marketing and business reps to validate site features, feasibility, and effort estimation; propose technical solutions based on solid understanding of best practices
• Design and develop content-related web pages for lead generation
• Develop, test and deploy dynamic web-based solutions
• Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability
• Provides research-backed recommendations for new approaches for software development technology
• Participates in all SDLC phases including architecture specifications and design; website configuration; database design; programming; quality assurance; testing and implementation; and ongoing maintenance and support
• Develops and adheres to development standards that allows for the maintainability of code; build reusable code and libraries for future use
• Continuously evaluates the design and functionality of supported websites and applications, and makes thoughtful and significant recommendations for improvements
• Analyzes performance of websites and takes action to correct deficiencies
• Participates in the modification and architecture of websites to resolve issues and plan for future growth
• Troubleshoot bugs and manage QA feedback; maintain new and existing web-based applications
• Communicate regularly on status and progress of active projects
• Work with remote development team to develop websites
• Participates in the development and implementation of internal business initiatives that improve efficiency and enhance productivity

Requirements:

• Minimum 3 – 5 years of working experience in web application and development
• Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery
• Proven PHP development experience and knowledge
• Experience with CMS platforms like WordPress
• Functional knowledge of relational databases (MySQL)
• Knowledge and experience in the following are an advantage:
  • Experience with ecommerce template like WooCommerce, Magento
  • Experience with server provisioning and deployment of WordPress sites
  • Knowledge in integration using API to other applications
• Excellent responsive web design skills using CSS and HTML, and able to quickly prototype web page layouts
• Strong experience using Adobe products for creating/editing graphics and website artifacts (Dreamweaver, Fireworks or Photoshop); HTML slicing
• Strong object-oriented programming skills with C# and JavaScript
• Advanced experience with client side technologies such as JavaScript, JQuery, CSS, DHTML and others
• Experience with AJAX, JSON, XML, DOM, and XSLT
• Experience with cross browser and cross platform compatibility issues (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, PC, Mac, tablets, smart phones, etc.)
• Good understanding of version control (GIT, SVN)
• Experience applying best practices including effective error handling
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work well with both technical and non-technical team members
• Strong analytical skills a must
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, adjusting priority as necessary, and consistently meet deadlines

• Enjoys designing and developing modern-looking and highly effective web pages and content
