Aidha is a Singapore-registered non-profit organisation whose mission is to provide financial literacy and self-development skills to foreign domestic workers and lower income women so that they can create sustainable futures for themselves. Started initially under the auspices of UNIFEM (now UN Women), Aidha became an organisation in its own right in 2006. Since its inception, Aidha has impacted more than 4,000 women and their families and communities.
Classes are conducted on Sundays at the UWC campus in Dover by volunteer mentors. On any Sunday, there are between 250 – 300 students attending classes and 35 – 50 volunteers conducting these classes. Aidha is a small but successful organisation, now in an exciting stage of growth and scaling up of its operations.
The intern will provide IT support in terms of the following
- Install and configure software and hardware
- Maintain and manage the office NAS (Network Attach Storage) and network
- Provide IT technical support for the office
- Set up network devices such as new printers, or expansions to the NAS
- Do basic maintenance and testing on Aidha hardware
- Troubleshoot issues and outages
- Ensure security through access controls, backups and firewalls
- Evaluate the condition of donated items and suitability for Aidha
