A Graduate Management Associate is required to interact with clientsfor most part of his/her day and so good communication and presentation skillsare a prerequisite for the job. This job also requires thorough financial andsector knowledge in order to provide sound and reliable advice to clients. Themajor skills and competencies that employers look for are:

As such, selected candidates will go through comprehensivetraining with proper 1 to 1 mentorship.
Training starts early, and this begins when potentialcandidates are selected to attend courses, Power Evolution Programmes, so as togain an understanding of full range of products even before they arecontracted.
Following which, all new associates will go through a 90-daytraining programme conducted by Advisors Alliance. This course will enable themto cultivate a good habit of starting the day early and will provide them witha platform to discuss their daily activities with the managers that arecoaching them. New candidates will share ideas and experiences in prospectingfor clients, as well as problems faced during appointments. During these 90 days,they will also go through coaching sessions and the Kick-Start programmes.
Kick-Start programmes further equip new associates withessential skills, such as cold calling, prospecting, presentation, obtainingreferrals, objections handling and after sales service. Coaching sessions areconducted by Charles Lim and other experience mentors and will be done asindividual sessions or small group sessions. New associates must meet theminimum requirement of having eighty per cent attendance and specific salestargets during the 90 days before they can complete and 'graduate'. Atgraduation, they will be presented with a specially tailored jersey to marktheir milestone.
The training will expose the candidates to thefinancial services industry of Singapore.
On top of the above examination, candidates will be giventraining on the following
1) Financial Portfolio Analysis and Design
2) Corporate Risk Management
3) Client Acquisition and Client Servicing
4) Wealth and Asset Management
Upon the successful completion of the training phase, thecandidates will move on to the consultancy phase. They will be required to worktogether with the consultants to come up with appropriate solutions to addressthe clients needs and concerns. This can include either wealth accumulation orpersonal risk management solutions. It can include advising SMEs on theirbusiness portfolios.
Candidates will also be required to submit a weekly reportof their learnings throughout their training stint and a final report uponthe completion of the training.
