Job Description

Looking for undergraduates that can commit full time and credit-bearing from 22 July to 8 December 2025. 

 

As a Utilities and Facilities (U&F) intern, he/she is expected to perform the following tasks:

1) Work with the U&F technicians and engineers in the monitoring and improvement of various performance metrics related to utilities and facilities such as weekly utilities usage, monthly effluent discharge quality, aging demand maintenance (DM) and GMP work order tracking and weekly Good Documentation Practice (GDP) compliance monitoring. 

2) Work with the U&F engineers during the entire phase of projects related to Utilities improvement, Facilities improvement and cost-improvement projects (CIP), which include design, document preparation, change control validation and execution.

3) Work with external vendors to assist the U&F team with regards to preventive maintenance (PM), demand maintenance (DM) and project-related works. This would involve, but not limited to, organizing meetings with vendors, proposal negotiations and conflict resolution. 

4) Work with other teams such as QA with regards to managing and closing new and existing U&F internal audit findings. This would involve working with U&F engineers and QA Compliance Specialists to perform investigation, root cause analysis, corrective action preventive action (CAPA) implementation and closeout of audit findings. 

5) Work with Utilities and Facilities Engineer to create or revise existing PM programs for new or existing equipment within the U&F team’s ownership, as well as enrolling new or existing spare parts/equipment into the site’s asset management system MAXIMO.

6) Work with Utilities and Facilities Engineer to create or revise existing SOPs or daily logsheets under the U&F team’s ownership. This would involve collaboration with administrative and QA teams.

 

Utilities and Facilities Projects

Participation in the following projects:

1) Process Seal Water and Condensate Recovery Project

 

Project Description: 

As part of Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) best practices, the project aims improve the site’s water recycling rate by installation of a recovery system to reroute seal water and steam condensate from the production area back to the utilities area for reuse. 

 

Project Timeline: 

• Recovery system design and review – 1 month

• Project documentation – 1 month

• Installation and commissioning – 2 months

• Gain an understanding of water sustainability best practices and water stewardship

 

2) Rainwater treatment and reuse feasibility study

 

Project Description: 

As part of Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) best practices, the project aims to assess the feasibility of implementing an onsite rainwater recovery system in order to reuse rainwater and improve the site’s water usage intensity.

 

Project Timeline: 

• Recovery system design and review – 1 month

• Project documentation – 1 month

Learning Outcomes: 

By the end of the internship program, the Utilities and Facilities (U&F) intern is expected to obtain the following learning outcomes:

1) Attain a greater understanding of the working principles, daily operations and maintenance of various industrial-scale utilities and facilities systems. 

2) Attain knowledge and experience of important project management principles such as project scheduling, external contractor management, stakeholder management and deliverables execution. 

3) Attain a greater understanding of the daily operations of a manufacturing plant (from raw ingredients arrival, all the way to packaging operations) and relate how the Utilities and Facilities team is involved in and contributes to the entire manufacturing process.

4) Further develop relevant soft skills such as content presentation, people management, time management and goals setting.

 

Prerequisites: undergraduates in electrical, mechanical or Environmental engineering 

 

Shuttle bus service provided from Chinese Gardens/Boon Lay MRT to Tuas in the morning, and from Tuas to Jurong East in the evening. 

Monthly Allowance: $1300
