Job Description

A Common Thread is looking for an energetic, detail-oriented, all-round Assistant Designer who works well independently and in a fast-paced group setting. The Assistant Designer will work seamlessly with the interior design team and the e-commerce team on a variety of design related projects including high-end residential interior projects, hospitality design projects and industrial/product design projects from concept through to procurement, installation and product packaging design. This candidate must also have a strong foundation with an elevated sensibility of luxury materiality and high-end design specifically related to concept development and product fabrication.

DUTIES

  • Creating detailed and thorough orthographic shop drawings for products in AutoCAD
  • Utilizing Sketchup, Rhino, for 3D renderings of products.
  • Coordinate with Interiors department on their furniture and product development related projects.
  • Preparing drawings and graphic layout for client presentations.
  • Assisting with construction drawing sets and the CAD team
  • Creating detailed and thorough orthographic shop drawings for product packaging
  • Tracking, ordering, and processing purchase orders and maintaining budgets for multiple vendors and clients.

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Passionate, proactive, resourceful, resilient and the desire to learn
  • 1-2 years experience in interiors or architecture and a degree from an accredited school of interior design or architecture.
  • Knowledge of the full design process including Concept, Schematic, Design Development, Construction Documentation, Construction Administration, Procurement, and Installation.
  • Must have strong AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) SketchUp, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Substantial graphic design, hand sketching and rendering ability.
  • Intermediate Knowledge of Shopify and E-commerce platforms
