Assistant producer responsibilities for TV/film are discussed according to the various phases of production process:

• Scripting: While a script is finalized, the assistant producer ensures that it has a commercial value and producing a film based on this script will be beneficial to the studio and executive producer(s) as well. He sometimes also provides creative input to develop or modify a script.
• Arranging meetings: Assistant producer communicates with location and studio owners, actors, financers, caterers, and other personnel and schedules meetings to discuss about the script, shoot schedule and other requirements of the project.
• Preparing contracts: Assistant producer prepares all the contracts regarding booking of locations, signing actors, hiring equipments, etc. He maintains all the contracts and documents for future reference.
• Supervision and assistance: An assistant producer is present at all times during the shooting and supervises the staff involved in shooting. He helps the staff and arranges replacement of staff or equipments if required. During post production, an assistant producer coordinates with the studio owners and visual effects artists.
• Publicity: Assistant producer help the marketing team in development of promotional strategies.
