Company Profile

The Lumeo Company (TLC) is a portfolio holding company focused on impact-driven startups and ground-up initiatives around the world, with a particular focus on APAC, Europe and the UK.

We recently launched Day Zero Studios, a private venture builder dedicated to nurturing the next generation of entrepreneurs aged 10 to 19. We invest in and co-build startups led by young people, prioritising under-represented founders, including those with relevant lived experience and those from marginalised communities.

We also develop our own social-impact ideas, working alongside young people with lived experience to co-design and build meaningful solutions.

We exist to help the next generation create what matters.

Job Description

About the Opportunity

We’re looking for student illustrators and student comic book illustrators with strong portfolios in character design and scene development and a passion for creating impact.

You will contribute to one or both of the following projects:

- Illustrated caregiving guides: A series of pictorial, step-by-step guides that explain nursing and caregiving skills through cute and clear illustrations, with symbols to describe an action in a scene and simple language.

- Comic books for young caregivers: A series for children aged 10 to 14 who have caregiving responsibilities. The story follows a young sister and brother as they navigate caring for their parents, who have disabilities. Alongside their experiences, the comics introduce step-by-step caregiving skills, aiming to support young caregivers both educationally and emotionally.

These projects aim to make caregiving information more accessible while helping young caregivers feel seen, understood and supported.

What You’ll Do

- Develop characters, expressions, settings and scenes that bring caregiving experiences to life.
- Turn written instructions into clear, easy-to-follow visual sequences.
- Create sketches, storyboards and finished illustrations for caregiving guides and/or comic books.
- Work with our team to depict caregiving tasks accurately, incorporating feedback from designated nursing or caregiving reviewers.
- Portray young caregivers and people with disabilities with dignity, sensitivity and respect.
- Maintain a consistent visual style across the series.
- Meet agreed milestones and incorporate feedback throughout the two-month contract.

What We’re Looking For

- A student with a strong illustration portfolio demonstrating character design, visual storytelling and scene development.
- The ability to communicate actions and ideas clearly through illustrations, with minimal reliance on text.
- For comic book illustrators, an understanding of panel composition, pacing and sequential storytelling.
- A thoughtful approach to depicting disability, family relationships and caregiving experiences.
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to receive and apply feedback.
- The ability to manage your time and deliver work within agreed timelines.
- A genuine interest in making caregiving education accessible and engaging.

Nice to Have

- Personal experience caring for a loved one with a physical health condition or disability at home.
- An interest in creating educational resources for family caregivers, migrant domestic workers, live-in carers and young people with caregiving responsibilities.
- Previous experience illustrating for educational projects, social-impact initiatives or charities.
- A strong commitment to creating purposeful work.

Contract and Compensation

This is a two-month contract opportunity, not a permanent position. Compensation will be paid in instalments tied to agreed project milestones, with the scope, payment schedule and deliverables confirmed before work begins.

How to Apply

Please send us:

- A short email or handwritten note explaining why this opportunity speaks to you.
