About Chess at Three
Founded in 2011 and headquartered in New York City, Chess at Three is an internationally acclaimed children's chess club built on a simple idea: kids can master even tricky subjects through storytelling. Its signature program takes children through Chesslandia, a story-driven curriculum with a cast of characters that teaches chess alongside critical thinking, strategy, and emotional intelligence. With 400+ tutors, the organisation has taught over 30,000 students and partnered with more than 600 schools worldwide.
Internship – Operations & Administration (Chess at Three)
Duration: 3-6 months, full-time
Location: United Square (with travel to other club locations)
Allowance: Standard internship allowance + $40/hour bonus for any hours spent teaching chess
About the role
Support the operations, procurement, and administrative backbone of our chess programs across school and club locations. You'll work closely with the team to keep classes running smoothly and vendors/schools well coordinated.
Responsibilities
- Handle procurement: sourcing, ordering, and tracking chess sets, materials, and supplies for classes and club locations
- Manage administrative matters for external school classes - email correspondence, scheduling tutors, preparing proposals, and finalising arrangements with schools
- Support day-to-day operations at United Square and other club locations (setup, logistics, coordination with staff/tutors)
- (Bonus, optional) Assist with teaching chess classes - paid at an additional $40/hour on top of internship allowance
What we're looking for
- Organised, detail-oriented, comfortable juggling multiple threads (email, scheduling, procurement)
- Strong written communication for school-facing correspondence
- Reliable and proactive - comfortable working across school and club sites
- Chess-playing ability a strong plus, not required
