Support the Business Times team in researching, reporting and producing timely, accurate and insightful news and analysis on financial markets, banking, investments and the economy for both print and digital platforms. The intern will gain hands-on experience covering Singapore and global financial developments while learning the fundamentals of business journalism.
Key Responsibilities
Research, gather and verify information on finance, banking, investment, capital markets and economic developments.
Assist reporters in covering earnings announcements, corporate briefings, press conferences and financial events.
Write news articles, market updates, company profiles and feature stories under editorial guidance.
Monitor stock markets, economic indicators, regulatory announcements and corporate disclosures to identify news opportunities.
Conduct background research and compile data to support in-depth reporting.
Assist with fact-checking, proofreading and ensuring editorial accuracy.
Contribute multimedia content, including charts, photos, videos or social media posts where appropriate.
Work closely with editors and reporters to meet tight newsroom deadlines.
Skills Required
Excellent command of written and spoken English.
Strong writing, research and analytical skills.
Keen interest in finance, investing, economics, banking and capital markets.
Ability to understand and interpret financial statements, company announcements and economic data is an advantage.
Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with spreadsheets, data visualisation or financial databases (e.g. Bloomberg, FactSet or S&P Capital IQ) is a plus.
