Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and responsible Legal Intern to support the Firm's lawyers and legal support team in day-to-day legal and administrative matters.

The successful incumbent will gain practical exposure to the operations of a Singapore law firm, including civil litigation procedures, legal research, drafting of legal correspondence, document management, court filings, client administration and general legal support.

The Firm utilises CoreMatter as its practice management system and NetDocuments as its document management platform. On-the-job training will be provided to the successful incumbent.

This internship is suitable for students pursuing Legal Studies, Law or related disciplines who are keen to gain practical legal experience in a professional law firm environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

The incumbent will be required to:

  • Assist lawyers and legal executives with day-to-day legal and administrative matters;
  • Conduct legal research;
  • Assist in preparing, organising and proofreading legal documents and correspondence;
  • Assist with court filing preparations and eLitigation-related administrative work where required;
  • Organise, paginate and prepare hearing bundles, authorities and supporting documents;
  • Maintain proper physical and digital filing of legal documents using NetDocuments;
  • Update matter information and administrative records in CoreMatter;
  • Assist with client onboarding, conflict checks and file opening procedures where required;
  • Liaise with clients, courts, government agencies and external parties;
  • Attend court hearings, client meetings or appointments where appropriate;
  • Maintain confidentiality of all client and Firm information;
  • Provide general administrative support to the Firm; and
  • Perform any other ad-hoc duties as may be assigned.

 

Requirements

  • Current student pursuing a Diploma in Law and Management, or other related disciplines;
  • A-Level graduates and 1st to 3rd year law undergrad students are also welcome to apply;
  • Fresh applicants with a keen interest in litigation are encouraged to apply;
  • Good written and spoken English;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook and basic Microsoft Excel;
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail;
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and prioritise work effectively;
  • Responsible, dependable and able to work independently while keeping supervisors updated;
  • Willing to learn and receptive to feedback;
  • Able to handle confidential legal information with professionalism and discretion.

 

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Prior internship or administrative experience in a law firm would be advantageous;
  • Basic understanding of Singapore civil litigation procedures would be advantageous;
  • Familiarity with eLitigation, CoreMatter or NetDocuments would be advantageous but is not required;
  • Strong legal research and drafting skills would be advantageous;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Demonstrates initiative and willingness to learn.

Training

On-the-job training will be provided to the successful incumbent, including familiarisation with:

  • CoreMatter;
  • NetDocuments;
  • eLitigation procedures;
  • Court documentation and filing practices;
  • Litigation workflows;
  • Internal Firm processes and administrative procedures.
