UL International Singapore – Lead Cryptography Analyst

The Secure Element team in Singapore serves to offer certification services for (new) cards, terminals and hosts in the payment industry. Since this market is moving and growing rapidly, IMS – as a customer focused company – needs to constantly move along with and adapt to the market.

As our global footprint continues to expand, we are looking for a Lead Cryptography Analyst for our office in Singapore. The successful candidate for this position will lead the team and be responsible for evaluating customers’ products, developing and maintaining the internal expertise in cryptography and more particularly in the security of algorithms executed on embedded systems.

This will include the analysis of cryptographic codes embedded in products under evaluation to identify potential vulnerability in a product, the development and the realization of sophisticated cryptographic side-channel attacks, the report writing and the support of engineers for evaluation of projects. The position includes the representation of the company in industry forums or conferences and the management of complex projects. The Cryptography Security Analyst should have a flexible and an innovative approach.

What you’ll learn & achieve:

• Lead security evaluation tasks or duties with the respect of deadlines and customer requirements. The tasks may include:-
• The vulnerability analysis of cryptographic algorithms, more particularly on payment systems with regards to side-channel, fault injection and protocol attacks.
• Development and realization of innovative cryptographic attacks on products under evaluation (side-channel, DFA).
• Generation of expertise reports in compliance with industry best standards.
• Manage a small team of experts
• Follow-up the latest technical developments and to contribute to the internal innovation in the security, in the cryptography area.
• Provide high-level technical support to the company and to the operations department. This may include test planning and logistics, test procedure updating, training and quality issue resolving.
• Represent UL and promote UL Security Evaluation services in conferences, exhibitions or any key industry events.

What makes you a great fit:

• Minimum of 5-7 years’ directly related experience
• People management experience
• Bachelor or Master Degree in Cryptography with good skills in algorithms in embedded systems.
• Expertise of microcontroller architectures and their assembly languages would be highly advantageous.
• High analytical skills.
• Experience in software on embedded products, preferably within the payment or security industry, smart cards
• Software coding / modelling skills (examples: C, Assembly Languages, etc.).
• Work independently, to be innovative and creative.
• Able to demonstrate aptitude and a strong potential to learn quickly.
• Enjoys working in a team and has the ability to engage their colleagues.
