Job Description

The Research and Knowledge Intern plays a critical role in advancing the Foundation’s strategic thinking, program effectiveness, and thought leadership. This role supports evidence-informed decision-making, captures insights from the field, and translates complex information into accessible knowledge products that inform internal learning and external engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Research & Strategy Support: Conduct ecosystem scans, stakeholder mapping, and conduct research to inform program development, strategy support and pipeline building.

• Insight Generation & Learning: Gather and synthesise insights from reports, data, field interactions, and broader sector developments. Translate key learnings into clear, actionable outputs such as internal notes, briefs, or presentations to inform strategy and decision-making.

• Knowledge Management: Manage and maintain internal knowledge systems, including trackers, learning repositories, and reflection tools. Ensure program documentation is accessible, and institutional memory is preserved.

• Communications & Storytelling: Support visibility and storytelling by developing high-quality content, including grantee spotlights, learning snapshots, and updates for internal and external stakeholders.

• Thought Leadership & Sector Engagement: Support the Foundation’s contribution to broader ecosystem dialogues by helping shape panel talking points, event content, and co-authored pieces with partners.

Your Profile

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field. A postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline is an advantage.

• Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience in a research role within philanthropy, nonprofit, or climate sectors.

• Sector Knowledge: Strong understanding of climate and development issues in Asia. Ability to connect program-level insights to wider ecosystem trends and narratives.

• Insight Synthesis: Demonstrated ability to gather and analyse information from a range of sources and distil them into clear, actionable insights or communications.

• Strategic Communications: Excellent writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to adapt tone and format for different audiences.

• Knowledge & Systems Orientation: Experience managing knowledge repositories and workflows that enable team learning and documentation. Highly organised, with strong attention to detail.

• Collaboration & Adaptability: Ability to work collaboratively across functions and adapt to evolving priorities. Comfortable taking initiative and contributing to cross-team learning.

• Values Alignment: A deep commitment to the Foundation’s mission and driven to support impactful, meaningful change through thoughtful knowledge and communication practices.
