Company Profile

The Private Museum Singapore is a non-profit private museum in Singapore founded by Singaporean philanthropist, art collector, and real estate developer, Daniel Teo, together with his daughter Rachel Teo in 2010. Fuelled by passionate patronage for the arts, the museum aims to be an alternative platform to bridge the gap between the private and the public.

It supports the exchange of ideas across cultures, educational initiatives, artistic, and curatorial collaborations with collectors and practitioners of the arts. With a vision to promote art appreciation, the independent arts space engage social, regional, and international audiences from all walks of life. 

The Private Museum is a registered Charity and Institution of Public Character (IPC) since 2010 and 2015 respectively.

Job Description

The Private Museum is seeking reliable and enthusiastic individuals to support our team during exhibition openings, talks, fundraising campaigns, and special programmes. This ad-hoc role is ideal for individuals interested in the arts, events, and cultural programming who enjoy working in a dynamic museum environment.

 

Role Overview

The Ad-hoc Events Assistant supports the Museum team in the smooth execution of events and programmes. Responsibilities include assisting with event setup, guest reception, and ensuring that visitors have a positive and welcoming experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with event setup and teardown (e.g. arranging furniture, signage, registration areas, and event materials)

  • Support guest registration and reception during events

  • Guide visitors within the museum space and provide basic information about the exhibition or programme

  • Assist with crowd flow and ensure guests move comfortably through the event space

  • Provide logistical support to the Museum team during talks, openings, and private events

  • Help maintain the cleanliness and organisation of event spaces

  • Assist with simple administrative or operational tasks as required

Requirements

  • Friendly, professional, and reliable

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Able to work evenings and weekends when required

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced event environment

  • Interest in the arts, museums, or cultural programmes is an advantage

Additional Information

  • This is an ad-hoc, part-time role based on event scheduling

  • Shifts typically occur during exhibition openings, public programmes, and special events

  • Training and briefing will be provided prior to events
