Strive Math – Strive Javascript Math + Code Teacher

Strive exists to make math education more meaningful and applicable to the real world. To equip students with the tools they need to lead meaningful and happy lives. Strive teaches a revolutionary new approach to math education, by teaching math through code. We take the grade 7-12 math syllabus and create fun and inspirational coding projects with P5JS.  We do 1-1 live online classes via zoom where we guide students step by step through creating a particular project.

• We are looking to hire part-time teachers that are passionate about teaching. You will be teaching Strive modules 1-1 to students in Grade 7-9. Our modules are small coding projects that are aimed at teaching students specific math concepts. For example, one project would be to code a clock, which would be used to teach the concepts of rates, degrees and arcs. 
• You will be given all the material required for each module beforehand. As a teacher, your role will be to guide the students to write the code for the full project. As the teacher, you will share examples, or ask questions, but try not to give the answer directly. This will require a lot of patience, empathy and a skill of explaining math concepts.

Qualifications

• Must be able to code, or learn to code in JavaScript
• Strong mathematical foundation to teach Grade 7, 8 and 9 Mathematics
• Ideally, you will own an iPad or tablet
• Have a strong internet connection
• Need lots of patience and a passion for educating young kids

 Logistics

• 5- 10 hours a week (1.5 hours per lesson, 1 lesson per day)
• Location: All classes on zoom
