Who you will be working with:

Star Publishing Pte Ltd is a Singapore-based publisher specializing in a wide-ranging list of primary and secondary school textbooks, encompassing English, Mandarin, Mathematics, Science, Music and Humanities.

You will be the point of contact between the Project Team and Production Team.

You will be working closely with the Production Team consisting of graphic designers, multimedia designers and artists.

You will also be working with the Project Team consisting of the Project Director and Project Editor.

Job Description

What you will be doing:

You will be responsible for ensuring that the final print adheres to the established style guidelines. 

You are not expected to make major content changes beyond typo errors, simple copyediting and proofreading.

  1. Collaborate with the project team and the production team to establish the graphic design and art direction at the start of each project.
  2. Prepare artwork briefs and video briefs.
  3. Assign work to, and coordinate with the Production Team to ensure that proofs are produced on schedule.
  4. Proofread, copyedit and suggest corrections to the proofs in accordance to the established style guide to ensure consistency in formatting.
  5. Ensure that all mathematical diagrams and statements are correct, and that all scientific information are true.
  6. Prepare working files (with the assistance of the Production Team) for dissemination to other stakeholders e.g. Project Team, printing company
  7. Commission freelance designers and artists

What skill and qualifications you should have:

  1. Singaporean/PR
  2. Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Science, Engineering or related field
  3. A high standard of written and spoken English.
  4. Meticulous, eye for detail, organized, good time management, and careful
  5. Communicative, self-motivated, responsible and proactive

 

What skills and interests that will be useful, but not essential:

  1. How to compose an artwork
  2. Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite e.g. Photoshop, InDesign (you are not expected to use them)

Salary commensurate with relevant work experience.
