The Newsroom Strategy Intern will support Berita Harian’s transformation initiatives by driving strategic planning, newsroom performance tracking, and cross-team coordination-- assisting with developing and executing strategies to increase audience interaction, digital reach, and community presence.
Required Competencies:
Analytical thinking, digital marketing/SEO knowledge, communication skills, and understanding of audience development metrics.
Learning Outcomes:
(1) Audience Development: Understanding how SEO, referral traffic, and platform algorithms drive readership and subscriptions.
(2) Contributing to projects involving digital experimentation, A/B testing, and new product rollouts in a newsroom.
(3) Community Management: Learning best practices for moderating discussions, responding to audience feedback, and converting loyal readers into advocates.
(4) Exposure to business-side data and collaborating with leadership on decisions that directly impact the organization's long-term digital growth.
There will be training provided-- i.e; focused instruction on SEO principles, paywall strategies, and the use of audience metrics dashboards (e.g., Chartbeat, Google Analytics) to inform decision-making.
Required Qualifications:
Undergraduate Degree, Diploma in Media, Management, Business, Marketing or Data Analytics courses in local polytechnics and universities/Malay Studies in NUS
