Job Description

BT Video Intern

JD: The candidate will be part of the video team, supporting the Digital Video Producers and the Head of Video on various projects which includes but not exhaustive weekly short videos, podcast highlights, original video series and news documentaries on finance and business news.


Requirements: 1+ years of experience in writing, content or video production, Basic videography and video editing skills, Knowledge in Adobe Premiere Pro & Canva is a plus, Good communication skills, initiative-driven and willing to learn, Keen interest in business & finance, Must be fluent in written and spoken English, Experience in journalism and reporting is a bonus


Learning outcome: Gain insights and experience in a business newsroom, Hands-on experience for all video projects and series, Learn how to script and produce videos for business and finance news, Understand and contribute to various forms of videos used to drive social media and branding



Intern journalist

JD: Learn to conduct interviews, digest press releases and corporate announcements, and write business news stories appropriate for BT's audience


Learning outcome: At the end of the internship, the intern will be able to appreciate how the newsroom works and have an understanding what makes news at The Business Times. They will also be able to propose a social media project for BT and create a piece of original work based on the accepted proposal.


Social Media intern

JD: The intern will work with journalists and editors to amplify BT content on social media. He or she is expected to curate, edit and customise content for respective platforms. Strong candidates who have proven themselves will have a chance to write and create fresh social media content specifically for social media.


Requirements: - Good spoken and written English - Comfortable with numbers and have an interest in financial and business news - Familiarity with social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, Telegram, LinkedIn and YouTube. - Able to work with graphic design tools Canva - Ability to work with audio editing tool Headliner and create shortform video/reels a plus


Learning outcome: At the end of the internship, the intern will be able to appreciate how the newsroom works and have an understanding what makes news at The Business Times. They will also be able to propose a social media project for BT and create a piece of original work based on the accepted proposal.


BT Audience team intern

JD: The Audience team intern will be involved in the planning and execution of strategies aimed at improving the reach of BT's content and converting readers into subscribers. This can involve a range of projects, from producing reports to promote data-driven decision-making in the newsroom, to developing products/tools/formats (e.g. newsletters, article enhancements, explainers) to help achieve these goals.


Requirements: Good command of written English; strong research skills; comfortable with data/numbers; editorial experience, or interest in the news


Learning outcome: The intern can expect to learn the various aspects of Audience growth work, such as SEO strategies, how to analyse user data and emerge with a strong understanding of digital journalism.

Working hours: 9.30am to 6.30pm weekdays. OIL will be provided should interns are requested to work on weekend.
