The Job
In this role, you will be responsible for expanding Client’s marine portfolio across Singapore and the wider Asia region. You will develop and convert new business opportunities by leveraging your deep understanding of the marine and maritime sectors. Acting as the first point of contact for potential clients, you will build relationships, identify prospects, and translate discussions into bound business with the support of our experienced broking team.
You will be responsible for:
- Identifying researching, and pursuing new business prospects across marine, cargo, and maritime segments
- Generating and managing a qualified sales pipeline, from initial outreach to contract closure
- Representing Client at key industry functions, conferences, and networking events across Asia
- Communicating the company’s value proposition effectively to prospective clients and partners
- Collaborating closely with brokers and placement teams to structure and finalize quotations
- Maintaining a consistent flow of qualified leads and relationship touchpoints for long-term business growth
- Tracking business development activities and provide regular market intelligence updates
- Upholding Client’s reputation for technical expertise and integrity in every client interaction
Ideal Candidate
- You have at least 5 years of experience within the marine, maritime, or marine insurance industry, with strong exposure to business development or account growth.
- You have a sound understanding of international trade, shipping operations, and how various stakeholders — ship owners, charterers, and commodity traders — interact within the global trade ecosystem.
- You possess excellent interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills.
- You are highly goal-driven and thrive in fast-paced, commercially dynamic environments.
- You pay strong attention to detail and deliver work that is consistently of a high standard.
- You are a strong networker and relationship builder who enjoys representing your brand at industry events.
- Marine insurance knowledge is preferred but not essential — you will be supported by a skilled team of brokers for technical placement.
