About the Festival
Singapore South Asian International Film Festival (Sg.SAIFF) is devoted to a greater appreciation of South Asian cinema and culture by showcasing films, supporting emerging filmmakers, and promoting the diverse perspectives of the South Asian diaspora.
Singapore, being the gateway of Asia, only enhances the potential of the festival to emerge as the melting pot of diverse cultures using cinema as a medium. The festival will be held from 1st to 9th September 2017 at various venues.
Singapore South Asian International Film Festival (Sg.SAIFF) showcases a combination of feature films, short films and documentaries under two sections - Competition (wherein titles from South Asia will compete for an award) and Showcase (wherein the best of South East Asian cinema will be screened). Additionally, the festival will also offer a unique opportunity to learn about acting, filmmaking and screenwriting along with knowledge sessions like panel discussions, master classes and other business networking sessions. The festival will conclude with a cultural program including some exciting stage performances, awards and music.
The festival serves as a unique opportunity for a cultural interaction between two major geographical regions- South Asia and Singapore.
A vibrant weeklong festival packed with the best of Independent cinema from the South Asia as well as a chance to meet global celebrities from the region. The programme is carefully curated from the hundreds of films produced in the last 18 months and will showcase highly anticipated titles from leading auteurs to discovering fresh voices in the cinematic space. Sg.SAIFF will be the leading platform globally for South Asian cinema and for industry players to meet and exchange ideas and give shape to new film projects.
Attend workshops from Masters: Acting | film making| Writing
The festival organises three important sidebars which provide an opportunity to budding film talent to hone their skills in Directing, Writing and Acting. The daylong masterclasses will be conducted by leading practitioners in their respective fields and offer a once in a lifetime opportunity to learn from the masters right here in Singapore.
Masterclass:
In our debut year we are bringing to the platform a very illustrious personality who has not only given a fine contribution to Indian cinema but is considered one of the pillars on which the alternative route to mainstream cinema stands.
Master classes Throughout the Year:
The organizers are also bringing three more master classes post-festival. Eminent celebrities would be giving master classes and it would be held at different places in the South Asian region. So stay tuned to this space for more information!
Panel Discussion:
The intellectual stimulus of watching the best of South Asian Cinema will be complimented with invigorating panel discussion with film stalwarts. A meeting ground where film professionals and cineastes can exchange ideas and deepen their appreciation of our cinema.
Performances
Singapore South Asian International Film Festival (Sg.SAIFF) will present a series of performing arts events which will provide wholesome entertainment and a unique perspective on the role of other art forms in Cinema. Performing arts have always been an integral part of our Cinema and the festival strives to program events which explore how dance, theatre, music, literature and design compliment and enhance The Seventh Art.

Celebrations & Cocktail Night

After parties that are as thrilling and invigorating as our films, the evenings bring the festival guest together for hours of fun and relaxation.

Liaison and Coordination Intern
Duties: Arrange collections of Digital Cinema Packages and submission for certification to IMDA; Liaison with Filmmakers; Assisting Festival Coordinators in logistical and event management related issues; Arranging jury screenings and organizing the awards and accolades to be selected; Speaking to Governmental bodies like Embassies, among other things.
Marketing Intern
Experience: In Graphic Design, Film Editing and/or Social Media Marketing. To market and spread information about the festival on Facebook, Instagram etc.
