Singapore Red Cross Society – Intern (Meals with Love)

JOB PURPOSE

Overview of SRC Meals with Love (MwL) programme and Infant Pack (IP) programme.

SRC Meals with Love Programme (MwL) is a temporary, stop-gap measure to alleviate identified families’ financial burdens through the disbursement of grocery vouchers while the family works with their social worker to develop a long-term care plan. 

SRC Infant Pack Programme (IP) aims to help families with young infants to defray costs through providing assistance in the form of milk powder and diapers. The Infant pack Programme complements our existing Meals with Love programme, offering additional support for families with infants. 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Support in the preparation and distribution of Meals with Love vouchers, food packs and our Infant Pack programme.

2. Assist in volunteer recruitment and management

3. Assist and handle administrative tasks

4. Conduct research to support the planning and expansion for Meals with Love and Infant Pack programme 

5. Address beneficiaries’ inquiries and cultivate positive relationships with them

6. Support other programmes if needed

JOB SPECIFICATION

1. Learning Objectives:

1.1 Develop an understanding of the social service landscape and the varied challenges faced by low-income families

1.2 Develop volunteer management skills which includes the recruiting, coordinating, and managing of volunteers

1.3 Understand operations management process involving the logistics, administrative processes and disbursement of financial aid and food packs.

1. 2.1 Ability to prioritise work responsibilities/multitask, organise own work schedule

2. 2.2 Think on the feet, make decisions and carry out responsibilities without the need for direct supervision 

3. 2.3 Communicate, negotiate, and engage professionally and confidently with people from all walks of life 

4. 2.4 Manage, grow, and utilise a team of volunteers from diverse backgrounds and with different interests/skillsets 

5. 2.5 Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to tailor key messages and adopt different approaches for different audiences 

6. 2.6 Able to deliver a high level of customer service skills and a keen eye for detail

7. 2.7 Exhibits maturity, sincerity, and passion to work with donors, community partners, volunteers, as well as families, children and seniors who are facing challenges

8. 2.8 Able to work on weeknights and weekends when required

1. Additional skills and knowledge

1. Demonstrated interest in the non-profit/social service sector

2. Familiarity with the social service landscape

3. Experience in project or event management will be advantageous

4. Familiarity with software such as MS Office and Google Apps

5. Candidate(s) with a history of relevant voluntary/internship experience will have an added advantage
