Job Description

A) Engineering Interns

General Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Online Suite such as SharePoint).

1) Engineering - Overhaul (SRENOH)

  • G1 CFT support - TV/ERRN review and support.
  • Shop floor query support
  • Upkeep of TV status update database
  • Technical report drafting
  • Work instruction drafting;
  • Paperwork support and dispatch;
  • G0 CFT support; and
  • Any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

2) Engineering - Factory System (SRENFS)

  • Interest in software engineering and development activities;
  • Interest in knowledge management;
  • Support Engineering Digital Project;
  • Assist Factory System to perform UAT and Software roll-out;
  • Assist to maintain department portal;
  • Assist to maintain department data and reporting;
  • Assist to project software development; and
  • Any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Special Requirements:

  • Useful skills to have: Python, Power BI, C#, VBA, Java.

3) Engineering - Manufacturing (SRENME)

  • Review of Rolls-Royce manuals and technical publications to ensure compliance;
  • Learn component repairs, engine/module build and strip processes for the Trent family of engines;
  • Be familiar with the shop practices for component repairs , engine/ module build and strip productions;
  • Support improvement projects for component repairs, engine/module strip and build processes; and
  • Any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

4) Engineering – Overhaul Development and Capability Acquisition (SRENOC)

  • Support Engineering in development of new methods, capabilities and technology to improve engine overhaul processes.
  • Assist in improvement project through process improvement studies, development review and implementation validation; and
  • Any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

5) Engineering – Repair Services (SRENRS)

  • Looking for an intern with data science / engineering background who enjoys interacting with people. The role will manage / assist in the gathering of data for time study analysis of repair processes, while identifying potential process gaps for improvement at the same time;
  • Opportunities to learn about aviation repair processes abound;
  • Interns with knowledge in programming and data analytics may also be involved in the analysis of large unstructured data sets to assist in the improvement of dashboards; and
  • Any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Special Requirements:

  • Useful skills to have: SQL, Python, Power BI, C#, VBA.

6) Engineering – Technology Data Management (SRENTD)

  • Support Engineering Technical Support team to manage and maintain Technical Publication;
  • Work on improvement project to streamline the process;
  • Consolidate and reconcile information to engage technical data are align to registry; and
  • Any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Special Requirements:

  • Useful skills to have: Visio, VBA, SharePoint, Power Automate.

7) Engine Data Services (SRPDQC)

  • Project for Engine Sales work scope and draft the process flow;
  • Review currently workflow and possible setup using K2 (automation) process;
  • Project on detail documentation accountability;
  • Review and improve in Airworthiness Directive Matrix and automate the AD download;
  • Project for Daily monitoring;
  • Project on Data migration; and
  • Any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

8) Business Development (SRBD00)

  • Project Management Office and Strategy;
  • Work with Project manager to assist with project management documentations;
  • Assist project manager with communications with stakeholders;
  • Assist in coordinating meetings and action items for projects;
  • Complete improvement projects to apply project management knowledge using latest software tools such as Power BI, Power Automate, and html web programming; and
  • Any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

9) Business Development FOF (SRBD01)

  • Involve in smart projects;
  • Managing a project: from small to large projects, with budgets in the millions of dollars;
  • Update Project/Programme Plans;
  • Administration of Project meetings, Meeting minutes etc.;
  • Project Controller; and
  • Any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Special Requirements:

  • Proficiency in MS Projects will be a plus.

10) Customer Service (SRCD00)

  • Automate data collection to populate the charts, reports, etc.;
  • Value-Stream Mapping of our current processes to reduce non-value added “waste” or tasks to increase efficiency;
  • Six sigma (Improvement of processes, making a process more lean);
  • Set up databases and charts for 2021 on key performance measurements;
  • Generate data;
  • Attend in-house training (Human factor, yellow belt etc.);
  • Assist in setting up of Customer Information Database;
  • Manage engine stand allocations; and
  • Any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

11) Operational Excellence (SRCI00)

  • Key focus: stream-lining the SAESL operating system to be more meaningful to what customers want.
  • Support the department (all the functions, manufacturing engineering);
  • Exposed to tool sets and processes for operational system and zero defect;
  • Involved in meetings happening in the shopfloor;
  • Reduce turnover time, process improvement (time taken for engine to touch down and completed repair);
  • How to reduce turnover time;
  • How to improve quality and safety in SAESL; and
  • Exposed to value stream mapping, where we collect the data and make processes.
  • The intern will join the Operational Excellence team and be involved in the implementation of process improvement in a large jet engine overhaul business:
  • Supporting Kaizen events and Continuous Improvement projects;
  • Value Stream Mapping of shop floor and transactional processes;
  • Support implementation of SAESL Production System; and
  • Any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Special Requirements:

  • Proficiency in SharePoint will be a plus.

12) Planning (SRPL00)

  • To assist planners for SAP related work (for example : manual manhours entry forms);
  • To assist planning team to maintain simple entry into excel spreadsheet for overall planning purposes (example entry data key in new parts ETA dates in remarks column);
  • To assist planners to attend pre and / or induction meetings (this will allow interns to have a brief overview of engine work scope and what to expect when engine is being inducted); and
  • Any ad hoc admin work (assigned either by GM or Heads).

13) Heath, Safety and Environment (SRQDHS)

  • Supports the EHS team in maintaining records and documentation;
  • Assist in evaluating hazardous exposure and design control measures, quantify chemical hazards and support occupational health management;
  • Assist in executing and following up with Safety improvement projects;
  • Assist in organize Safety Events and workshops;
  • Assist in creating and designing safety posters and safety handbook;
  • Create and distribute communications content for staff engagement; and
  • Any other ad-hoc duties as required or assigned.

Special Requirements:

  • Familiar with basic computer science and/or information systems;
  • Understand basic data and analytics; and
  • Willing to learn some basic principles of workplace safety & health management.

14) Quality (SRQDQS)

  • Assist Quality Engineers in:
  • Managing organization procedures and process flow charts;
  • Conducting internal audits;
  • Support external audits;
  • Managing staff authorization system;
  • Reviewing vendor & customer quality questionnaire;
  • Analyzing audit performance data.
  • Support Quality Department day-to-day functions;
  • Gather feedback / data from operation for review;
  • Take on improvement projects / assignments; and
  • Any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

15) Laboratory (SRRPLB)

  • Assist lab officer(s) to perform quality control tests in the lab for repair development processes and process investigations. E.g. Coating microstructure evaluation, welding hardness testing, tensile strength testing, etc.;
  • Update and maintain lab database for individual processes to record all test samples issued, received and evaluation results;
  • Ensure proper storage and document of all test coupons and evaluation records;
  • Maintain SDS database for chemical products utilised in the lab;
  • Ensure good housekeeping is maintained in the lab;
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations and policies;
  • Involve in lab process improvement projects; and
  • Any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

B) Operations / Production Interns

General Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).

1) Module Production 1 (SRB3C1)

  • SOP of Engine Oil and Chemical Disposal;
  • Induction Engine Unloading;
  • Update various charts required by supervisor for planning purposes;
  • Involve in projects as assigned;
  • Assist team leaders with paperwork accountability; and
  • Assist in cross functional projects.

2) Module Production 4 (SRB3C4)

  • Best practice guide for installation of the engines; and
  • Help support M41 Team on SAESL Operating System projects.

3) Facility (SRFDFC)

  • Assist in the facilities management of the company premises;
  • Assist in supervisor job for the contractor job and tabulation of report and data
  • Assist in collating maintenance checklists and reports;
  • Attend meetings to facilitate the coordination of maintenance and repairs;
  • Attend site checks on maintenance work; and
  • Assist in administrative matters.

Skills required:

- Power BI software;

- Microsoft office and forms;

- Basic troubleshoot skills.

4) Training & Development (SRTR00)

  • Assist in documenting training documents for Trainee Technicians and Direct Technicians.
  • Special Requirements:
  • Able to comprehend technical specifications and support tooling requirements;
  • Good interpersonal skills (to coordinate with Trainers, Trainees and Vendors); and
  • Proficiency in Visual Basic will be a plus.

5) Engine Inspection (SRB0IP)

  • 6S mini work improvement project.

6) Engine Production 3 (SRB0C3)

  • SOP of Engine Oil and Chemical Disposal;
  • Induction Engine unloading;
  • Implement Tagging System for end-to-end parts accountability (Strip-Sentence-Kit-Build);
  • Standardize end-to-end work practices from Strip-Sentence, Kit & Build;
  • Account for parts removed at every stage of operations;
  • Eliminate errors at the place of occurrence; and
  • Assist in cross functional projects.

7) Engine Production - General (SRB0C5)

  • SOP of Engine Oil and Chemical Disposal;
  • Induction Engine Unloading;
  • Help in setting up of the BSI section and setting up of tools;
  • Monitor of tools due date & accountability;
  • Assist in the administration of the BSI Team;
  • Help to maintain the CK Warehouse at Loyang;
  • Maintain the 30 days Tools & Equipment check; and
  • Maintain the engine stand & engine accountability.

8) Engine Production 2 (SRB0C2)

  • SOP of Engine Oil and Chemical Disposal;
  • Induction Engine Unloading;
  • Update various charts required by supervisor for planning purposes;
  • Involve in projects as assigned;
  • Assist team leaders with paperwork accountability; and
  • Assist in cross functional projects.

9) Engine Production 4 (SRB0C4)

  • SOP of Engine Oil and Chemical Disposal;
  • Induction Engine Unloading; and
  • Maintain and update cell tools inventory; and
  • Assist in cross functional projects.

10) Engine Production 1 (SRB0C1)

  • Compiling and Clearing Paperwork for completed engine;
  • Boroscope Inspection Process Flow;
  • Standard Operation Procedure T700;
  • Trent 1000 lifting at Build A and Hydro Stand lifting;
  • Induction Engine unloading; and
  • Assist in process improvement projects and administrative work.
  • Note: Shift work required. [AM Shift: 06:30 – 16:15; PM Shift: 16:00 – 01:45]

11) Module Production 3 (SRB3C3)

  • Procedure for installing T800 turnover adaptor arms onto intermediate case;
  • Heating procedure for M33 Bole Oven;
  • SOP to highlight changes whenever Engine Manual (EM) is revised; and
  • SOP for Balancing Machine.

Special Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Visual Basic will be a plus.

12) Module Production 2 (SRB3C2)

  • Rotor Balancing Standardization;
  • Strip and prepare for cleaning;
  • Tooling Calibration Balancing Procedure;
  • SOP on IPC Blading Marking; and
  • Support data collection in Tools control, FOD control, Human Factors and Error management, and process time management.

13) Module Production 6 (SRB3C6)

  • Procedure for Ded-Gen Build;
  • Hydraulic Press Operating Procedure;
  • Targeting Rig Operating Procedure; and
  • Memmert Oven Operating Procedure (heating, drying, tempering).

Special Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Visual Basic will be a plus.

14) Equipment Maintenance Service (SRPDEM)

  • Compile forecast for calibration and load testing;
  • Engine stand coordination;
  • Update warehouse tooling inventory;
  • Standard tool support; and
  • Any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

15) Nozzle Guide Vanes (LY) (SRRNGV)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word);
  • Follow the morning Team to update production, documents as and when required by Team Leader / Head;
  • Report to work from 08:00 - 17:36 as per normal shift;
  • Follow up with all safety requirements per SAESL / Cell standard;
  • Any other miscellaneous works related to operation given by Head / Manager.

16) Hot Cell (LY) (SRRPHC)

  • Skills in MS office to assist operations to update furnace records, checklists, prepare slides etc.;
  • Assist technicians in daily production operations;
  • Observe all Environmental, Health and Safety Policy requirements;
  • Keeping work area neat and orderly at all times; and
  • Any other miscellaneous works related to operation given by Head / Manager.

17) NDT (SRRPND)

  • Familiarize with shop routers;
  • Interns will be trained to understand Engine Manual to identify parts accordingly to its relevant Trent type and also to understand how ICRON works and its flow;
  • Interns will also be required to prepare for outhouse of parts which include selection of suitable parts and etc.;
  • Help out with daily operations administrative stuff;
  • Searching of parts;
  • Upgrading of information, printing and laminating kind of work; and
  • Any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

18) Plasma (LY) (SRRPP1)

  • Assist technician in thermal spray operations;
  • Observe all Environmental, Health and Safety Policy requirements;
  • Keeping work area neat and orderly at all times;
  • Wearing appropriate respiratory gear when working inside thermal spray booth; and
  • Any other miscellaneous works related to operation given by Head / Manager.
