ShanghART Gallery was established in Shanghai in 1996. It has since grown to become one of China’s most influential art institutions and a vital player in the development of contemporary art in China, representing over 40 pioneering and emerging Asian artists. Established in Singapore in 2012, ShanghART Singapore is ShanghART Gallery’s first overseas gallery located in contemporary arts cluster Gillman Barracks.


Job Description

We are offering individuals, who are interested in contemporary visual art, the opportunity to participate in the day-to-day operations of a contemporary art gallery. He/she will actively take part in all stages of the exhibition process, from the conceptual planning through physical installation to promotion and administration. The applicant will gain valuable on-the-job experience through their time with ShanghART. 


Job scope:

  1. Preparation of exhibitions - Assist in liaising with various vendors and institutions, installation and de-installation of exhibitions, documentation of ShanghART’s events
  2. Social media content - Assist with the day-to-day maintenance of ShanghART’s social media accounts such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
  3. Gallery Operations - Interacting and introducing exhibition, artists and artworks to visitors, respond to queries, manage incoming calls, ensure the smooth operations of the gallery’s facilities and operations, assist in the design of collaterals, and any ad-hoc duties


Requirements:

The ideal candidate should be flexible, motivated, organised, detail oriented and interested in contributing to the ongoing needs of the gallery. He/she should be passionate about contemporary art, willing to take on diverse tasks, has a good command of English, and possess the ability to converse and read Mandarin Chinese. Prior experience with website content management systems, Photoshop and Facebook/Instagram is a plus.
