Job Description

Purpose of internship:

To offer individuals interested in contemporary visual art the opportunity to participate in the day-to-day operations of a contemporary art gallery. The intern will actively take part in all stages of the exhibition process, from the conceptual planning through physical installation to promotion and administration. Interns will gain valuable experience assisting with website, social media and email marketing communications, writing press releases, and creating event flyers. 

Job scope:

Preparation of exhibitions - The intern will assist in liaising with various vendors, institutions and artists, writing and sending of press releases, installations and de-installations, and documenting ShanghART’s events.

Social Media Content - Assistance with day-to-day maintenance of ShanghART Singapore's social media outlets: Facebook, Twitter and occasionally, Instagram.

Gallery Operations - Interacting with gallery visitors when needed and any other ad hoc duties. 

Requirements:

The intern should be flexible, motivated, organised, detail oriented and interested in contributing to the ongoing needs of the gallery. The ideal candidate is passionate about contemporary art, willing to take on diverse tasks and has a good command of English. The ability to converse and read Mandarin Chinese, and experience with website content management systems, Photoshop and Facebook/Instagram is a plus.
