Safran S.A. is a French multinational aerospace, defence and security corporation headquartered in Paris. It designs, develops and manufactures both commercial and military aircraft engines; launch vehicle, spacecraft and missile propulsion systems; as well as various other aerospace and military equipment and devices.
Position Overview:
Safran is seeking a highly analytical and motivated intern to support a strategic feasibility study on the development of a Singapore-based corporate campus that consolidates multiple group entities and functions into a single integrated location.
The Campus will be also welcoming a joint and independent Training Center that should serve the Safran companies and beyond, a canteen and possibly shared services such as some facilities management. HR, Finance and IT.
The intern will assist in building a comprehensive case study evaluating the financial, operational, legal and strategic viability of establishing a shared corporate campus to improve collaboration, efficiency, and long-term scalability.
- The purpose of the internship is to build the overall Campus Business Plan for evaluation the viability of a Singapore corporate campus model with local Safran Companies and Safran France Senior Management.
- The business plan will take into consideration of the financial feasibility analysis, Shared services & operational synergies, stakeholders and organizational impact of each existing Safran companies in Singapore.
Financial Feasibility analysis:
- Assist in developing financial models to evaluate
- Current multi-location cost structure
- Individual Safran Companies Lease terms and Durations
- Quantify potential additional cost or savings comparing current vs campus model considering the current rental vs cost of building the campus
- Long term capital investment vs operating costs
- The comparative business cases of each Safran Company (current vs within the Campus) shall be detailed and presented to each individual Company for final decision.
Shared Services Operational synergies:
- Evaluate if there are opportunities to centralize certain functions and the associated value propositions comparing current vs campus:
- Example of functions: Training Centre / Finance / HR / IT / Procurement / Training centers / Logistics
- Assess the feasibility of the proposed shared services considering the different ERP system / Training / certification / legal requirement challenges
Stakeholder & Organizational impact:
- Evaluate potential impact on employees, talent attraction and retention, corporate identity and branding and cross-company collaboration.
- Identify risks arising from this exercise such as employees’ commute challenges, transition costs, organizational change management.
Engagement & Support:
- The intern will be supported by the local Safran Singapore Management, namely the CFO and the CEO plus France’s International Finance teams who already have some experience with the matter.
- The intern will also have to interface with the Management (MD, CFO and some HR / Technical department interaction) of each Company to build the Campus business case.
Deliverables:
By end of the internship, the intern will produce:
- Corporate Campus Feasibility Case Study;
- Financial model (Campus vs Current Structure);
- Strategic recommendation for Management
Required Skills:
- Financial feasibility analysis and Fully proficient in Excel and powerpoint
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Ability to structure / communicate complex strategic problems
Education and Experience:
- Master’s Degree in Business / Finance / Economics or in the last years of a Master’s degree
- Some experience or exposure to financial modelling / corporate strategy
