Safran Electronics & Defense Services Asia Pte Ltd (SEDSA) is the leading repair and overhaul shop for avionics and electrical components, and Safran Group’s first avionics Centre of Excellence in the Asia Pacific.
Our main business segments are in the repair and overhaul of Safran Group OEM avionics and repair of third-party OEM avionics such as Honeywell, Thales, Rockwell Collins and BAE Systems. We are also the Authorized Repair Station for Airbus Avionics, L-3 Comm and Saft Batteries. Our 6,000 Sqm facility is equipped with multiple automatic test benches such as 4 ATEC Serie6, 1 ATEC 5000, ATS182, ITS700 and AVTRON. It is designed for expansion of capabilities to handle next-generation aircraft such as Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Airbus A350.
Our customer base includes 85 airline customers with approvals by various airworthiness authorities including Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), Civil Aviation Authority of China (CAAC), Department of Civil Aviation Malaysia (DCA Malaysia) and Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT).
With more than 3,000 repair and overhaul capabilities covering most Airbus (including A380 and A350), Boeing (including 787 Dreamliner) and ATR 42/72 aircraft types, we provide comprehensive solutions for airlines and aftermarket fleet management solution providers.
Internship Description
The intern shall assist the Continuous Improvement team in providing supports to the other SAFRAN Electronics & Defense Services Asia (SEDSA) departments in order to promote and manage improvement initiatives and projects in line with the company objectives. It involves all improvement initiatives and projects, including employee-driven innovation.
Specific Responsibilities and Learning Opportunities may include (depending on workload and priorities):
- Working on process improvement projects, proven improvement methodologies (5S, QRQC, DMAIC, Root Cause Analysis), change management, project management and smart KPIs to achieve increased business productivity
- Use of Lean and Six Sigma tools to facilitate process improvement
- Initiating creative solutions and assisting the company in implementing Innovation and applying lessons-learned from previous or bench-marked experiences
- Supporting programs that create awareness and promote Continuous Improvement culture in the organization, promoting best practices and standards in the organization
- Identifying and recommending opportunities for process improvements
- Developing excellent relationships across multiple organizations & with all levels of workshop and other SEDSA personnel
- Actively participating and contributing to HSE initiatives & Corporate HSE programs and in HSE risk communications & mitigations
Who should apply for this internship?
Candidates who are:
- Studying for a Degree/Diploma in Aerospace, Electronics, Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent OR
- Have some knowledge in the field of Aerospace, Electronics, Electrical / Mechanical Engineering but are looking to pursue a career in Continuous Improvement
What do we need from you?
- Able to commit to a period of at least 6 months for the internship to be meaningful
- Flexibility to perform a wide range of tasks, responding to changes in direction and priorities, and accepting new challenges, responsibilities, and assignments
- Excellent communications skills. Pro-active, outspoken and capable of developing excellent relationships across multiple department and stakeholders
- Experience in 3D printing and programming (Java, Python, VBA…) would be a plus
- Fluency in French would be a plus as well, due to frequent interaction with the Original Equipment Manufacturer in France
- Preferably proficient in:
- Engineering (Design of mechanical parts, Analog and Digital Electronics), Quality, or other technical skills
- Microsoft software applications (Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Word)
- Lean six sigma tools knowledge
