The role involves collection of data on customers, competitors and target markets using various information sources. Then consolidating that information into actionable items, reports and presentations with the intent of shaping the business strategy. Having a clear understanding of company’s business objectives and aligning the strategy with these objectives based on market data.
This role would also require compiling and analysing statistical data, designing surveys to understand trends by using modern and traditional methods to collect data. The successful market researcher will be able to analyse autonomously qualitative data, trends, strategies and competition with the aim of increasing market share and profitability.
Responsibilities:
- Understand business objectives and assist in defining business strategy.
- Collect data on customers, competitors and target markets.
- Consolidate information into actionable items, reports and presentations.
- Assist in identifying and studying new potential markets, market trends and customers’ preferences.
- Compile and analyse statistical data using modern and traditional methods.
- Perform valid and reliable market research SWOT analysis.
- Provide competitive analysis on various market trends, pricing / business models, sales and methods of operation.
- Be a key support to the management team for defining and implementing the business strategy.
- Conduct market research projects, interpret results using a variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation via statistical analysis to complex data mining
- Participate in marketing meetings and strategic planning
Requirements
- Preferably undergraduate with degree in Statistics, Marketing, Business or related field.
- Market research analysis experience with resourcefulness to obtain/generate data
- Ability to interpret large amounts of data, knowledge of statistical packages, databases and MS Office.
- Search engines, web analytics and business research tools acumen.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Strong quantitative, analytical and critical thinking.
- Ability to multi-task and work with several stakeholders within the business.
