Employer is a boutique external asset manager in Singapore composed of 2 funds:
Fund one is backed by family offices in Singapore, and we have a fixed income, equity and alternative investment portfolio. I.e. our current strategy has more than 200 fixed income bonds from public sectors under management. In addition, we have access to top global PE funds and new issuance opportunities etc. with Bloomberg terminal in the house. We work with bulge bracket bank and prime broker in HK, NYC and Singapore for our transactional support (UBS, JP Morgan, LGT Group etc).
Fund two is an impact driving med-tech focused VC backed by a family office in Singapore. We look for early-stage companies which can inject value into the patient caring system and reduce the supply-demand gap. We cover APAC and US excluding mainland China but do look at Indian, SEA, Australia, etc. Currently, we have 7 companies with 3 on the pipelines covering few different verticals in medical device and AI. The fund is still private due to the strategic consideration of our companies. We work with many key players and other early-stage VC in SEA.
As an intern, you will have opportunities to access investments deals across varies products in particular with global fixed income structures and APAC/US direct venture capital deals in the medical technology. In addition, you will have opportunities to shadow directors in key stakeholders meetings with varies counter parties from Bulge Bracket Banks, Top consulting firms, Board meetings, and networking events, etc. Currently looking for two interns (from business or life science program) to join the asset management team with potential for full time financial analyst position post internship. Please note that life science students will only be working in the med-tech VC.
Responsibilities
- Input transaction data in excel with preset formula and format; troubleshot errors after uploading the transaction files to Bloomberg terminal. (before the completion of back-end reporting system)
- Following are Bloomberg terminal related:
- Able to distinguish different variables in financial ratios/figures. In addition, to derive the appropriate formula with BDP.
- To build a real-time alert system for portfolio monitoring and execution reminder.
- To build a fixed income watchlist; cross function integration required.
- To build an pre earning and post earning tracking system for fixed income and equity.
- Following are Trade Navigator (by Genesis Financial Technologies) related:
- Coding for equity filter based on technical studies or indicators across multiple timeframes.
- Coding for equity filter based on bars’ formation across multiple timeframes.
- Assist with market overview study and competition analysis in private investment deals and gain exposures to buy side due diligence
- Help to coordinate and assist during onsite DD meetings with counter-parties
- Opportunity to perform fixed income research based on selective market and present the bond to key stakeholders on investment decision
- Participate in ad-hoc assignments on investments, fund products
Requirements
- Bachelor degree with a major coursework in finance, accounting, programming or life-sciences;
- Strong attention to details with proven analytical skills;
- Good understanding of equities, fixed income, multi-asset class markets;
- Experience in Bloomberg BDP Formulation is desired;
- Good understanding of accounting and financial statement analysis is an asset;
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g. Python) is an asset;
- Able to prepare professional research report in English;
- Advanced Excel still are required;
- Self-learner, independent and proactive;
