Company Profile

Public Culture supports small brands in their growth by creating editorial experiences to foster relationships, shape influence, and strengthen lasting connection with their communities. We believe in developing conversations of value and content with longevity — immersive stories that engage those who truly matter to brands.

Led by fun, industrious women, we pride ourselves on ditching institutional bloat to provide cost-effective editorial and social media solutions to small businesses. Our team has a background in the humanities and social sciences so we are big on two things: writing with elegant, technical finesse, and using data to inform our content development. We're also invested in building community and not producing content, so our content strategies often entail a community-centric component.

Job Description

This is a hybrid role where you will be developing content for both social media and other editorial platforms (e.g. blogs, long-form, ready features for press use etc.). You will work closely with the entire team and be responsible for the following:

  • Developing social media content
  • Developing long-form content for clients and Public Culture

All writers must possess working knowledge of Photoshop. Please indicate if you are familiar with other Adobe software (e.g. Lightroom, or Illustrator). You must also be available during the months of September 2018 through November 2018. Our ideal candidate is a proficient writer who wants to learn how to write for different audiences. A background in English Literature and/or Communications is preferred.

Public Culture is a small team — as such, we look for highly motivated and organised individuals who work best alone but play well in a team. We don't believe in narrowly defined job scopes, so expect to learn a little about everything there is to running a business: how to pitch for a job; how to develop a content strategy; how to manage clients; how to measure campaign success; how to be a better writer and a sharper editor.

We are employing both part-time and full-time interns this quarter.
