We’re actively seeking a Ventures Associate to champion the Plug and Play business model internationally and drive portfolio growth in Singapore under our Insurtech vertical. An ideal candidate has a passion for understanding how startups scale and is driven to take an active role in building out our ecosystem in a new office.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Source Seed and Series A startups for investment as well as corporate partners
- Identify business development and strategic investment opportunities for corporate members within the Plug and Play ecosystem
- Conduct research to identify new markets and industry sectors, conducting in-depth business analysis to identifying new competitive opportunities
- Perform due diligence on start-up team strengths, market size, technology, and business model
- Evangelize Plug and Play Singapore to all potential network partners including startups, investors, and corporate members within all verticals
- Collaborate with and host corporate executives in deal flow sessions several times per week
- Provide event production and logistical support for demo days, mentor sessions and other events as part of the accelerator
- Mentor start-ups in the program on taking a product to market, raising money, scaling, and all other ad hoc business needs
- Continuously operate as a champion for Plug and Play Singapore, attracting startups both inside and outside of the current Plug and Play ecosystem to join the program in Singapore
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
- 2+ years of marketing, community management or other relevant work experience at a startup, accelerator, or venture fund
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships with colleagues, prospects and industry contacts
- Detail oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills and a proficiency in public speaking
- Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
- A passion for entrepreneurship is a must and startup experience a plus
