Job Description

Team Information

As part of the drive to attain NVPC’s vision of a City of Good, Company of Good was established in 2016 to help companies drive purpose. Companies engage with Company of Good to understand their profile, build their knowledge, capability and network, and partner with other like-minded businesses to do good. The Company of Good network has grown to more than 2,000 corporate members since its inception.

With the upcoming new developments in the Company of Good, we are offering an exciting opportunity for a passionate, driven individual who has the right purpose and aptitude to create impact to serve community and societal needs at a national level. This person should share the belief that corporates can be a powerful source of support to build greater social resilience for Singapore.

Programme

Against the backdrop of a global crisis and economic uncertainty, there is an urgent call to firms today to rethink existing business practices to continue creating value for stakeholders as well as long-lasting social and environmental impact. In this context, NVPC is embarking on a journey to define what corporate purpose means in the Singapore context and to build a purpose-driven business community. To do this, NVPC will work with members of the corporate ecosystem in Singapore to co-design and co-develop the National Framework and Blueprint on Corporate Purpose.

The National Framework seeks to

(i) harmonise existing frameworks, guidelines, regulations and policies to encourage greater integration of purpose into business strategy and operations, and

(ii) include a set of metrics that is used to measure, recognise, present, and disclose information pertaining to the non-financial performance of a company, and which demonstrate how it has integrated purpose into its business.

The National Blueprint will

(i) provide a roadmap for businesses to implement, track and measure their progress as purpose-driven organisations through the adoption of the National Framework;

(ii) recommend policies to foster a purpose-driven corporate community in Singapore and

(iii) identify priority areas of needs and opportunities for people and planet to enable alignment of resources. In so doing, the Blueprint will enable the government and other relevant stakeholders in Singapore to build a more effective ecosystem for purpose-driven businesses.

Learning Opportunities

  • Direct engagement with top companies and prominent business executives in Singapore that are driving good in their business practices
  • Gain first-hand understanding of the measurement and standard of good CSR and sustainability practices by companies in Singapore
  • Learn about the innovative ways that companies in Singapore have undertaken to multiply their efforts in doing good through their customers, employees and business partners
  • Receive behind-the-scene insights and get hands-on experience on running an alliance of businesses

Responsibilities

  • Support the review, analysis and recommendation of gaps and corresponding interventions in relation to the development of “Corporate Purpose” in Singapore.
  • Support the development and overall project management of an accessible national framework that companies can use to guide themselves and benchmark to keep track of their efforts to do good and measure the impact on the business.
  • Support dialogues and studies with multiple stakeholders including, but not limited to those involved in other similar national set-ups, to establish an alliance to co-define and agree with businesses in Singapore the understanding and aspirations for ‘Corporate Purpose’ in Singapore. Serve as the Secretariat for the multi-lateral coalition to ensure that all interests are aligned and all relevant parties are engaged to advance the agenda and objectives of the coalition.
  • Support engagements and project management with various partners to review and/or establish national platforms and programmes to match work exchanges and opportunities between companies and students, NVPC staff and advisors to help businesses advance their corporate doing good agenda.
