Job Description

The Community and Access (C&A) team seeks an individual who is passionate about improving access for underserved communities to the Gallery through digital means and physical access.

The intern will support the team in community engagements, planning, programming, execution, and evaluation of in-Gallery and digital community programmes, and access initiatives. The intern will learn the operational aspects of programming for community groups, including but not limited to administrative and logistical coordination with internal and external stakeholders, for physical and digital access to the Gallery.

Intern Responsibilities

1. Stewardship of Community Partners & Execution of the Gallery Wonders Programme

• Support the community engagement team to cultivate new and steward current community stakeholders

• Support the administration of planning and executing the programme for community groups

• Prepare and maintain logistics and equipment needed for programme execution

• Support the planning and execution of the Gallery’s annual community stakeholders gathering, Commune 2025

• Managing agenda and meeting minutes for the team

• Support with the call-outs of volunteer assignments for community group visits

2. Research & Evaluation on Programmes and Accessibility

• Evaluate and suggest improvements for existing operational processes to support the upscale and delivery of our programmes such as the HOLD collection and Slow Art Guide

• Independent observation and research on accessibility and evaluate existing accessibility features available in the Gallery

• Writing a Perspectives article based on research and experience throughout internship

3. Volunteer Management

• Support the administration and running of the BFG volunteer recruitment exercise & induction programme

• Evaluate and propose improvements for the recruitment & induction programme

Requirements

• Available to commit full-time (Monday to Friday) for a minimum of 3 months (up to 6 months), starting from Aug/Sep

• Ability to work independently and as a team

• Good interpersonal and communication skills

• Passionate about the arts and volunteerism

• Enjoys working with diverse communities

• Open to new challenges and working collaboratively across different divisions

• Highly adaptable in cultivating internal and external stakeholder relationships and partnerships

• Ability to write well

• Prior experience in programme/ events planning is preferred

• Able to work on some weekends
