We are looking for a talented Backend Software Engineer intern to join our tech team and build amazing products, from internal tools to customer-facing applications that enhance our learning/teaching experience. This is not a normal 9-to-5 internship! If you are looking for an intense learning experience packed with opportunities to work on products that directly impact business and change lives, this is a once-in-a-lifetime internship for you! You will be working closely with a tight-knit team consisting of designers, marketers, product manager and software engineers from notable companies such as Grab, Alipay, Visa, Ernst and Young and others. Many of our important products are architected and built by our interns and they continue to have a huge voice in shaping our business direction.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for Backend architecture, design, development, and deployment of cloud-based features.
- Turn feature requirements into implementation within Sprint tight deadlines and iterate to improve.
- Come up with new features to support our students and teachers and rapidly iterate to get user feedback.
- Constantly think about how to improve user experience and making the system scalable.
Selection Criteria
- Be able to commit to at least a 6-month internship and be flexible to adapt to the working hour at a growing start-up.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor in Computer Scienc /Computer Engineering or related fields.
- Demonstrated experience in working on software projects both individually and with a team. Working experience in a structured engineering team at a company will be a huge plus.
- Strong knowledge in at least one backend language, preferably Python (Django/Flask) or Javascript (Node).
- A growth mindset to learn and share new concepts and good engineering practices.
- Ability to speak up and suggest how we can improve our products/features/coding practices. Our team encourage and value any member contribute their ideas no matter what their roles are.
- Ability handle pressure with composure and work with the team to resolve technical and business challenges.
