Muslimin Trust Fund Association (MTFA) is a rapidly growing nonprofit organisation dedicated to serving the underprivilege community in Singapore. Established with the aim of providing financial assistance and support to Muslims in need, MTFA focuses on various areas such as education, healthcare, welfare, and social services. Project Overview
The intern will support the People & Culture team in the development and implementation of MTFA's Performance Management System (PMS). This includes reviewing an existing prototype developed using AI-assisted ("vibe coding") development, rebuilding the application for local deployment, and preparing the underlying competency and performance database required for system operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Application Review & Technical Assessment
- Review the existing performance management application and understand its architecture, workflows and functionalities.
- Analyse the source code, identify dependencies, and document the application's technical structure.
- Recommend improvements to enhance system stability, maintainability and scalability.
2. Application Redevelopment & Local Deployment
- Recreate and refactor the application code to enable deployment within MTFA's local or cloud-hosted environment.
- Replace or remove external platform dependencies where necessary.
- Configure the application for local hosting and testing.
- Resolve bugs, errors and compatibility issues identified during redevelopment.
3. Database Development & Configuration
- Design and populate the application's database with organisational data, including:
- Competency library
- Career pathways
- Job roles and grading structure
- Performance indicators and appraisal templates
- User roles and permissions
- Ensure data integrity and consistency across the system.
4. System Testing & Quality Assurance
- Conduct functional and user acceptance testing.
- Identify defects and implement fixes.
- Verify that system features operate according to business requirements.
- Support performance optimisation where required.
5. Documentation
- Prepare technical documentation covering:
- System architecture
- Database structure
- Installation and deployment procedures
- User and administrator guides
- Document future enhancement recommendations.
6. Collaboration
- Work closely with the People & Culture team to understand performance management processes and translate business requirements into system functionality.
- Participate in project discussions, demonstrations and progress updates.
- Incorporate user feedback into system improvements.

Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of software development principles and modern web technologies.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, Windsurf, ChatGPT, or similar).
- Experience with databases (SQL or NoSQL).
- Basic understanding of APIs and application deployment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to document technical work clearly.
- Interest in HR technology, digital transformation, or people systems.
