The core plant extraction expertise has been utilised to reclaim proteins and fibre from food processing spent materials. A range of protein & fibre functional food prototypes has been developed. Amongst the functional food prototypes developed, is a starchless, high fibre, protein noodles with zero Glycemic Index (W0W® Noodles).

Plant protein extracted has also been formulated into Plant Protein Composite (PPC™) bio-ink and that can be printed into 3D PPC™ Scaffold for 3D cells & tissue culture.

Job Description

OVERALL JOB SCOPE

The Production & Operations Intern (POI) supports the seamless end-to-end production set up & manage production process/facility & team. He is responsible for the manufacturing plant & process, from collection of spent grains to eventual packaging and delivery to customers.

SPECIFIC ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical

  • Support the set-up of spent grains valorization and W0W® noodles manufacturing facility. 
  • Ensure that facility achieve all needed certification and licences. 
  • Planning of production schedule through coordinating equipment, labour, and material availability.
  • Performing daily production processes to fulfil output requirements for the end-to-end process. This includes undertaking extractions of bioactive (e.g. polyphenols, proteins, fibres etc) at lab and pilot scale from botanicals and food processing and/or agri-food side-streams (such as spent barley, spent coffee).
  • Troubleshooting of production issues to minimize delays in production.
  • Upkeeping of production records for traceability.
  • Practising of strict sanitization and cleaning procedures after each production.
  • Maintaining factory’s hygiene and cleanliness at all times.
  • Setting up cleaning and maintenance schedule to ensure machinery/equipment are in working condition.
  • Adhering to safety measures while operating machineries and equipment.
  • Other ad-hoc tasks assigned.

Business Development & Operations

  • Participate in business development, marketing and customers’ acquisition activities.
  • Improves operational efficiency through setup/management of IT systems.

QUALIFICATIONS

i. Academic/Experience

  • 3rd or Final year undergraduate or polytechnic student majoring in Mechanical Engineering/Eectrical engineering/Biochemistry/Chemical Engineering/Bioengineering.
  • Able to commit a minimum of 5 months.

 ii. Skills

  • Solid organizational skills with multi-tasking ability
  • Good written and spoken communication skills
  • Stakeholders’ and project management ability.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with ability to work in cross functional matrix team
  • Self-driven, resourceful problem solver with a ‘can do’ mentality

Salary: $800.00 - $1,000.00 per month
