Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE

Hummingbird Bioscience is seeking an Intern to provide support to both the Analytical Sciences and Mass Spectrometry teams. The intern will receive training and assist in sample preparation and experimental runs of assays in both the Analytical Sciences and Mass Spectrometry teams. Additionally, the intern will participate and attend group/team meetings and may have opportunities to work closely with other departments to learn the details of on-going projects that will require novel method development. The role allows the intern to understand the importance of analytical techniques for the development and characterization of antibody related drugs.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Running of a variety of analytical methods on a day-to-day basis including but not limited to HPLC methods, Capillary electrophoresis, potency, impurity and protein concentration assays.
  • Assist in laboratory work using a wide range of chromatography and LC-MS techniques for characterization of antibodies and other therapeutic recombinant proteins
  • Supporting the analytical sciences and mass spectrometry teams in ad-hoc routine tasks including but not limited to buffer preparation, sample receipt, label printing etc
  • Maintenance and housekeeping of the laboratories
  • Timely and legible data recording expected

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Program in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field
  • Knowledge in protein structure and biochemistry
  • Basic laboratory experience
  • Willingness to pick-up basic hands-on laboratory skills
  • Good communication and inter-personal skills
