Job Description

We are looking for an individual to help evaluate, design, and improve the organisation’s systems and processes that make work effective, meaningful, and rewarding. Working closely with the cofounders, you will be involved in a range of projects around building the company’s employee value proposition and talent pipeline, improving productivity and effectiveness, and curating the ideal culture for a growing, impact-focused startup.

You will succeed in this role if you have a genuine interest in learning why certain teams “just perform better” and are driven to experiment with and implement structures to facilitate that happening. The job scope is closely related to that of Human Resource (HR), Human Capital Management (HCM), Organisation Development (OD) in other organisations, but here we are less concerned about the name than what the scope entails.

The scope of this role includes:

  • Support cofounders in annual and quarterly management of Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) to ensure that the teams have a clear alignment of direction and deliverables.
  • Manage the company’s recruitment system and talent pipeline to ensure that the organisation meets its immediate and future talent needs.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the company in achieving its seven defined People goals, namely Direction & Purpose, Productivity & Effectiveness, Development & Growth, Performance & Benefits, Talent Acquisition, Work Culture, and Administrative Processes. From the outcomes of the evaluation, identify strategic areas for improvement and work on them in the form of scoped projects.

What you will learn from this internship

  • You will learn from a very practical point of view, how People (overlapping to some extent with HR, HCM, and OD) systems and processes are managed and implemented for a small-sized company.
  • You will gain direct experience in managing a number of People processes, such as OKR management, productivity evaluation, recruitment ops, and culture building.
  • By the cross-functional and project-based nature of the role, you will be able to hone critical core skills in people and project management.

Requirements

We are looking for someone with intrinsic curiosity and interest in understanding People (or HR, HCM, or OD) related work and would like to become a professional in the field. By the nature of the role, it is also particularly important that you are trustworthy and dependable with strong communication skills.

For internship positions, we are looking for students from local Institutes of Higher Learning who are able to commit for a minimum of 5 months. This includes students who are looking to fulfill internship requirements or have plans to take a Leave of Absence. We also understand that the application process can be a tedious one, and commit to following up with every applicant who applies to us.
