Our vaccines facility at Tuas is a key manufacturing site withinour global network supplying the active ingredients used to make multiplepediatric vaccines. Tuas site was officially opened in 2009. To date, the site has played a key role in producing more than 800 million vaccines for pneumococcal diseases. Tuas has a workforce of more than 415 employees.


We are expanding operations at our Tuas site adding new exciting products to our production capabilities and becoming an even more significant part of GSK’s worldwide vaccines supply chain. Job Description

Intern - EHS (ref: 359181)


What will you do?

  • Assisting the EHS Team in supporting the site in EHS aspects including: improving site’s safety culture, conducting Risk Assessments, site walk for safety and assisting on EHS projects
  • Manage administration of all EHS Training Courses for the team
  • Provide EHS support to the site and provide accurate and consistent professional advice that enables them to manage and improve their EHS performance
  • Work with Operations Managers to ensure Workplace Risk Assessments are ‘suitable and sufficient’ and updated
  • Reinforce the site’s safety culture by presenting timely and stimulating information
  • Management of Induction Checklist for new members of staff and ensure individuals understand hazards associated with their role
  • Conduct Office Inspections, support problem solving, and implementation of CAPAs to rectify issues within realistic deadlines
  • Assist in areas with inspections to get a consistent approach across site, coaching site-based reps in EHS, increasing their EHS capabilities, and competence to effectively manage the environment
  • Perform as an active member of the Ergonomic Improvement Team (EIT) as well as providing administration service to the team and supporting the Site Lead
  • Collate data for presentation and escalation at Site EHS Council 
  • Understand and manage the EHS Operations which includes engineering principles and day to day operation challenges.
  • Improve your influencing skills.
  • Understand principles of project management.


What are we looking for?

  • Educational background – Undergraduate studying Bachelor in Chemical/Environmental Engineering/Chemistry who is interested in learning more about a manufacturing environment and vaccines
  • Knowledge in technical EHS would be advantageous
  • Proficient in use of IT and software/systems, ideally document management and database systems
  • Strong written and oral communications skills 
  • Deadline-driven, flexible with self-reliance to work in an empowered environment
  • Awareness and ability to work within culturally diverse teams
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, think and work independently, and problem-solve
  • Strong drive for performance and attention to details
  • A passion for knowledge
