Ground-Up Initiative (GUI) [pronounced Gee-U-Aye]《聚友爱》is a volunteer-driven non-profit community that values connecting with the land for the many things it teaches us.
Since April 2009, we have been shaping a Sustainable Living Kampung in Bottle Tree Park, Yishun, Singapore. The SL Kampung encourages projects and challenges that cultivate environmental awareness, a hands-on culture, leadership, personal responsibility and teamwork. Doing things together has nurtured a community that cares about humanity and the Earth.
Mission:
GUI Kampung Kampus aims to be the leading 21st Century 'School of Life':
- Foster social and environmental consciousness through programmes and activities that emphasise on living in harmony with the Earth and how to get in touch with ourselves.
- Be a place where values in sustainability and global responsibility can be shared and fostered among all who visit, work and learn. It will serve as a model for Singapore and the developing region.
- Be a showcase of eco-technology and environmentally friendly practices, some of which could be very relevant to making urban Singapore life greener/ more environmentally responsible.
- Be a centre to inspire a re-think of the interaction between the urban dweller and their environment.
- Be a centre for sustainability ideas and concepts incubation.
- Be a centre for training humanitarian expedition teams.
Ground-Up Troopers (GUTS) Internship Programme with a difference. It is focused on developing youth to be the leaders of the future!
GUTS is organised by Ground-Up Initiative (GUI) and supported by the National Youth Council.
The programme strives to develop well-rounded leaders, able to know themselves, analyse, understand and engage the society which they find belonging to, adopt a clear and forward vision, and possess the skill sets to put their plans to action. Offering a dynamic programme to test all levels of capability, GUTS will develop young leaders capable of making real change.
With like-minded youth, GUTS will form a strong leadership community at GUI's Kampung Kampus, a space known for its work in encouraging a green and community minded Singapore.
The 20-week full-time programme will commence on 15th May and conclude 30th September, consisting of:
- Leadership and community development training
- An internship with energetic Singapore civil society organisations and enterprises
- Opportunities to develop and lead your own community outreach projects in September 2017.
- Engagements with a community of youth ready to make a difference
- Industry mentors to accelerate you to the next level.

Application requirements:
- 19-35 year olds
- Able to commit to a full- time.
