Job Description

The Audio Visual Lighting (AVL) Student Intern supports the technical production team in setting up, operating, and maintaining audio, video, and lighting systems for events, services, and productions. This role provides hands-on experience with professional AVL equipment, live event workflows, and production technology.

Key Responsibilities

Audio

  • Assist with setup and teardown of microphones, speakers, monitors, and audio consoles.

  • Support live audio mixing for rehearsals, events, or small venues under supervision.

  • Run cable, patch inputs/outputs, and perform basic signal troubleshooting.

Video

  • Help set up cameras, switchers, projectors, displays, and recording equipment.

  • Assist with live video switching, camera operation, or content playback.

  • Organize and manage media files for services or events.

Lighting

  • Set up lighting fixtures, power distribution, and control systems.

  • Program basic lighting cues using consoles (e.g., ETC, MA, Chamsys, or similar).

  • Assist in focusing lights, changing gels, and maintaining fixtures.

General Production

  • Support event setup/strike, staging, rigging (within safety guidelines), and cable management.

  • Perform routine equipment checks and inventory tasks.

  • Work collaboratively with production staff, volunteers, and event coordinators.

  • Follow all safety, handling, and equipment procedures.
